As I read the article on this scan:
For Cagalli: Cagalli loves Athrun not because Athrun is dependable, but because he is NOT a dependable person. That's why Cagalli decided to protect him. Cagalli is now a strong person, a princess who not need protection from her knight. She's an adult now.For Athrun: He was told the meaning to survive and keep alive from Kira and Cagalli. Because both Athrun and Cagalli now became adult, in Final Plus, Athrun hugged Cagalli. Not because Athrun didn't want to be apart from Cagalli. The meaning of that embrace was "Let's fight together for our future in our own field. You fight in ORB, and I'll fight in PLANT." Meant that even though they fought separately, the both tried to protect their future as they believe in each other. Then, after the battle is over, they will meet again as their hearts are always one.
