Artist Comment

Anyone who's seen Stand Alone Complex will immediately recognise this remake of a scene from the opening sequence. The title borrows off the opening theme 'Inner Universe' by Kanno Yoko and sung by Origa - just one of the many great songs from the series.

Well, this started as sort of test for myself to see how far I could push my vectoring skills. Almost everything is vectored - except the holographic text, some lighting, the shoji door painting, and the complex gradient along the wall on the right. Also some smudging done on the vector of Motoko. Vectored with CorelDraw 8, the rest done with Corel Photo-Paint 8.

The greatest challenge of this wallpaper is working from a bunch of small, dark screencaps and filling in a lot of detail that isn't visible due to their poor quality. You will need to full view in order to properly see Motoko, the holographic text, the doors, and especially the carved wood panels above the doors - based on a real set of carvings.

Other resolutions:
1280x1024
2560x1600 widescreen - It's *big*, so you can see the wood carving detail much better on this than on the 1600x1200.

This piece of work is mind blowing. You must full view to see all the individual elements creating this piece- from the hologram lights to the subtle screen to the details on the timber. The sense of depth, lighting and perspective are so carefully mastered, and everything in this contributes to just sheer excellence!

    Just... awesome :o
I really like the way you've done the picture on the doors and I think you did a great job with those carved wooden panels too. You have to take a look at the 2560x1600 version to really appreciate them though.

    *wow*....

you're either very patient, or insane :D

wonderful vector! I love all the details everywhere, esp the carving over the door (very intricate). I love the perspective too, and how everything is neat and well-placed :)

so, how long did this take you?

I didn't like Stand Alone Complex, I found it disappointing. But I did love the opening and the animation. Great job at remaking the sequence, it looks lovely and professional for the most part. I especially like the room, while the character looks a bit strange, I still love it. Marvelous work.

XD Great to see this wall here... I can't really add much to my previous comment on AP. Stunning details + vectorage, the odd slanty perspective of the doorframes on the right side of the wall would be the only bit of critique.

    ...nonetheless, still hot! XD

ROFL I wrote a comment and it wouldn't post... I do a few dots and it goes through -_-

I was going to post a comment with my fave yesterday but it didn't seem to work. Anyway, I just wanted to commend you on this great reconstruction of this one scene. Everything in here is so high quality and detailed that it's just plain amazing. Great work!
