Apocalypse is an original character of mine in a fictional story I am writing. He's kind of the "bad guy" of the whole thing.

This at the moment, has to be my favorite pictures I have done so far and the one I have spent the most time on. It was done in November of last year. Around 10-12 hours to complete, I actually did this picture in several stages as it is the most complicated picture I have ever done. I did a sketch without the background and asked for suggestions. I did another sketch which in the second stage had the bird and background ideas. I also added light color and shadows for the second stage. Third was ink and final color.

I asked for help on it, suggestions, and I guess I asked the wrong places as I didn't get any help. (Except it was someone's suggestion to add a bird or animal somewhere.)

I am a big fan of shallow depth of field, that is why things get fuzzier as they go farther into the background. Plus, my biggest weakness IS backgrounds. But to do these shallow depth ones, I do draw the backgrounds as if I wasn't planning on blurring them. So I am getting practice.

I wanted the cross to look old. That's where there is moss, cracks, and stains, and the cloth around it is torn and stained aswell. I was extremely happy with the shadow from the cross when I first completed this picture but looking at it now, I would have softened it as it moved away from the actual object.

The celtic tree on the cross is my own original design that pops up now and then in artwork related to my fiction story. Took me about an hour to design but I don't include that in the overal time of other pictures.
