Purpose of this drawing was to design an undersea creature. I came up with this fish which I call a Gobi Fish. I had two other drawings of this "mermaid" that some people really liked but I never had her underwater. So I decided to add her in as the object of the Gobi's interest.

Coloring the Gobi was the best. I wanted a unique pattern and decided to try something like a giraffe. I took that pattern and slowly shifted it to another and back. His fins were also a lot of fun. I tried several different things. I used a speckled brush to add texture and an inner glow to adjust the transparency. (Where it is close to the edges it isn't as transparent.)

The most trouble was the ground. Trying to make it like sand and to give you the idea it is underwater. I looked at several pictures for help and I just love how deep underwater there seems to be no life and there seems to be no horizon.

I don't know how long this picture took me but I am willing to estimate 6 to 8 hours. Lines are all hand done and colored with Photoshop CS.
