Very itneresting use of brushes, i think it creates texture and depth. But I also think it covers up the original image too much especially on her wings. Great effort! Love the green nonetheless.

Personally, I liked the concept--but it's a bit busy for me, especially when it seems like the entire thing is being obscured to one degree or another. I'd try darkening the lines of the original scan and using fewer brushes... maybe just on the borders and the top left corner? I don't know >_< Good luck~
