Regenbogen: When are you going to submit?
Me: Err well, I've been working on it... >_>

Greetings! It has been a very long while since I have submitted something, but then again it wasn't all that long. It was just not a very good submission hahaha.

I've been working on this wallpaper for a while already. At least 4 months?
Anyway, I haven't been inspired all that greatly by any particular scan, and ever since the UA "find your style" thing, I've always wanted to test this out and see how it went.

At first glance, you can't decide whether this is Shunpei or not. And for you Yoshitaka Amano fanatics, it looks familiar. Yes, indeed, I decided to combine the two, just to see how crazy it would become, and in fact I'm pretty happy.

I initially had trouble just figuring out the background. I was going to go with the name of the wallpaper and add in tropical jungle plants and such, just like what I did in WITH LOVE because it worked so well. But somehow it just didn't work... I felt it might get cluttered and I ditched the idea. I saw DREAM's noa submissions and immediately fell in love with the whole pearl web idea and took that on board.

It was only very recently that I decided to work on this again and I started to actually colour it instead of leaving it as a bunch of outlines, like what I did for the majority of time since starting it >_>

Somehow the hammock became a rainbow (I got mixed with the word hammock and hamper for some weird reason o_0), the sky's upside down (yes that cloud is upside down), she's now a floral mermaid diving up into the sky (or perhaps clinging onto the rainbow), and water droplets act as tension/ compression (?) cables (?!). I'm so confused myself because the actual setting is upside down hahaha just don't ask @_@.

Either way, I hope you enjoy it! Most of the Shunpei patters were pretty much done from imagination, and I grabbed a few ideas here and there.
As for the title, you can imagine this as a sequel to "tripod baby" (oh yes, all the babies I have in my gallery XD) and it's once again a title of m-flo's Paradise baby loving Emi Hinouchi and Teriyaki Boyz :)

Enjoy!

Oh oh Stats and credits:

PSD: Approximately 100 layers or so. Took like 4-6 months... can't remember any more.
Scans used: Delicate beauty II by DREAM and Sokubaku no Yami by DREAM
PS: There's one more artist I grabbed and shoved in. Can't tell? X-P
Ryuya~~~ XD

ooh nice work! I like the nice colours, esp the colours of the background, very warm and paradise-like :)

I love the little details on her, esp her eyes and nails :) the pearls look nice too, but there's one strand on the right side that looks like it's cut off at the purple (the last colour in the rainbow).. it looks a bit odd just ending so abruptly... either extend it to the edge of the picture (like the strand to its left), or hid it behind the rainbow/hammock (like the strand to its right)...

but nice work combining the two styles :)

Regenbogen... I guess you mean me? *lol* What can I say... my trendwhore project? I didn't finish but I think sooner or later I will look at it again. And I started something new... starting too many things lately. However I think next submission will be no original but I will use a scan again. ;) Reading your lines... gives me a motivation boost for tomorrow. :D

I think I haven't found my "own style"... this whole discussion lead me into... ? I have yet to find out! ;)

So now about your wallpaper. I looked at the scans that you linked here. And I especially like about your wallpaper that you really made your own style out of two scans and that you didn't took too much of the scans... sure it is inspired by Shunpei and Amano... but even more I see your own Misa style in it. :) For example... you changed the look of the eyes a lot. The way Amano draws eyes is so special that one realises at once "This is Amano"... but you changed them, gave them your own style. :D

I love the pearl web idea too it looks beautiful in your wallpaper. And of course I enjoy to see the pretty rainbow... :) The colors look really delicate... soft and make it look elegant.

So it is actually not a crossover of two styles... but three. :) Looking forward to your next submission already.

    + favs + desktop :)

gee this is cute! >.< captured my eyes when i saw the thumbnail. the asian style suddenly had a look of funk in it. and it's rainbow! geez, reminds me of a children's cartoon character, but this reflects more maturity and style. hmm.. i think this is something that won't let go of my mind for now.. thanks for sharing this to us! you've worked really long on it and i'm happy you finished it well! ;)

  14. DREAM Aug 14, 2006

woah a ryuya et amano-sama et shunpei et noa wall. there are very certainties in life outside of say death- but im positive no-one has ever used those 4 artists in a wall before.

your vector is IMMACULATE. if i didnt know Amano-sama's work as wel as i do i would be hard-pressed to figure out which scan you used.

love how you tied the bg together with Noa's "spiderwebs". i knew you would use em- someday. :)

    absolutely beautiful
    + fav

  15. Akaiken Aug 14, 2006

Errr... what's the winner thing above the wall when I full-view it? ^_^'

A combination of Shunpei and Amano, eh? Quite interesting and pleasing...

I must say that the color combinations are good as well. I guess those threads (is it?), you worked kind of hard? (nah... I dun think so! XD) so clean and I saw some designs on the full view of the wall. Nice...

  16. Ephemeral-Garden Aug 14, 2006

Misa, you never cease to amaze us with originality.

I thought it was shunpei, but thenit doesn't seem to have the shunpei look in the female scan though... and you actually mixed 3 artists' piece in one wall o.O I'm beginning to love those soft pastel colours.. (if that's what you call them) And I really love how you always mix things together yet they looked so original. I really love how it turned out.

And anyways, I think you've found your own style. ^^ Well, if I'm not wrong.

    Nice one, this is awesome.

  17. asianspirit Aug 16, 2006

lol it does look like a rainbow instead of a hammock. XD

your talent and artistic mind never ends, do they? what is most captivating about the wall would be the colors no doubt. not only is it colorful, it doesn't have an outline of black. :D yes, i find that interesting.

but then again, i would like to own a hammock like that and laugh at the foolish mortals who are envious of me. XD

Oh wow, I just stumbled upon this while looking through my friends recent favorites, and I must say, it is a great wallpaper. I absolutely love the retro feeling it has, and your vector is, as always, excellant. Keep up the good work!

This is a simply mind-boggling, eye-popping piece of work; especially impressive since it's a basically free-style. There are a few rough edges here and there, but mostly just incredible art.
