yeah, so...if you're in AP and you read my description there, you know just how much i despise the very creation of this wall. But what you may not know is that i even hated making it. I hate the pop-art style. like despise. because if i see one more circle brush, i think i may create a virus to completely whipe out all existing circle brushes from the universe.
Anyways, as i was making this wall, i was bored. I literally forced myself to make it by playing a game with myself. Where, if i did a certain amount of the wall each day, i could have extra cookies. And some of you are laughing thinking i'm joking...but i'm not. i really hated working on it, and cookies were my best motivation.
this wall was for the battlegrounds competition at animepaper.net, and it was against the IIDFWP. we lost, but we got some kickass walls out of it, so in the end i feel we won either way :3
but back to my wall and how it was made when satan took over my body...
basically it was a slight spin of the pop-art style that i hate so much (in case you didn't know, i'm a grunge scenery whore). basically, i vectored the entire cityscape you see. it's the skyline of manhattan, and it as by far one of the most painful vectoring experiences ever. i like tedious things. i vectored water once, and made fish swimming around, and pebbles, and little creatures...but vectoring a city is by far the most boring, painful and massacistic thing i've done to date. and i will never ever do it again. ever. and if anyone ever tells you vectoring a city is fun, they are lying to you. Theres nothing fun about vectoring a bunch of tiny rectangles.
so, i think that sums up how i feel about this wall.
oh. and the text says..."maybe fly and fall are the same thing...they both begin with f and end on the ground" yes, it sucks. but i figured...crappy quote for a crappy wall.
please don't feel like you have to be nice. i like good honest criticism.
i won't be fixing anything you hate, because if i open that illustrator file again, i'll have to bathe in holy water.
but i'm happy to hear what you have to say <3

Wow, that's amazing. I don't really like the wall either, it doesn't relate to anything that I really like, but I can't help but admire how well everything is done. The scan is amazingly clean, it just feels so much smoother than the average good wall. And I love how the vectored buldings are slightly fuzzy and give a sense of distance. The clouds actually work nicely with the scan too, rather than constrasting with the soft background vectors. I personally don't like the text, but that's just me. But overall, an awesome wall, though I don't like it. But I'll add it to favourites anyway ^^ Thanks for sharing ^_^

Nice choice of collors. I've always liked unitone wallpapers, and yours is neatly done. Congrats ;)

Heheh, for someone who hated this style so much, I'm surprised you didn't just take a brush and scribble all over it XD The wall would've looked nice in color though.. but then again, your into grundge, so if you made the wall in color, you'd probably hate the wall more XD

Great effort ^_^ You should award yourself with more cookies for doing something you absolutely hated ;)

like this person said, you did great on something you hated. this particular scan has been used for nothing but retro, colorful wallies of which i also liked but you did something unlike all the others which is an attempt on a little grunge. =) it turned out really well.

For something that you hated working with, this looks amazingly well :) - I agree with kyokujitsu on the plusses of this wall.
And one more thing: dark chocolate with little orange skin pieces in it works better for motivation...
