I decided to do a fun wall this time. This is my idea of fun, no general scene, flashy effects and some things that match with the scan to tie it together. I found this scan here in the unknown section, I'm not sure where she's from unfortunately, but I simply loved the scan, and I wanted to wall it. It's been so long since I last walled it feels ...
Work: It's all done in Photoshop by hand, there are no stock images (not that anyone could think there is) The petals are done by hand, there is petals in the original scan, this is where I got inspiration to add those in. There's about 17 individual layers, mainly with the colour effects I had to do it that way to get such a glowing effect. I didn't have many problems, the only pain with this wallpaper is the detailing on the character itself, while it's beautiful, it's a real pain to extract. I think that's what took the longest, either way, I hope you guys enjoy my fun/meditive wallpaper I made. Comments and critiques always welcome!

Wow, that's really awesome. To be honest, I had my doubts, but after looking at the wall I was really surprised. The lightning is a little wacko, but it somehow manages to fit in with the dark mood. The scan is beautiful, and I love the petals and all the thorns silhouettes ^_^ A very nice wall. Thanks for sharing ^_^

The thumbnail really looks terrible! The wall is looking great. I like the contrast between light and shadow and the pedals alre looking great with the scan. Also a great work with extraction!
I believe the scan you used is from Galaxy's Child...but MT doesnt seem to have a section for that yet. ^-^ Really love the contrast!

All kidding aside, it looks really nice. Too dark for my tastes though... even though I usually like these kinds of themes. Petals are well done.. along with that glowy circle thingy... I like the title too.

Anyways... onto your wall. The combination of darkness and lightining effects is really awesome, I've always enjoyed darker walls and you added an interesting dynamism by playing with the contrasts of light and shade.
Technique clean as always but I would have enjoyed viewing some text work... don't know if it'd fit your idea though

Wow, I must say, the lighting effect rocks!
The thorns, the effects, the petals, the lightning sparks, amazing composition, and just a right dose of mysteriousness from the dark parts. Being a typo-fanatic, I prefer some nice stylish text to accompany, but well, that's just me. lol.
The only thing that bothers me would be the clouds/fog on the lower part. I think it needs more fading out on the leftmost/rightmost side so that it blends to the darkness in the bg better.
But all in all, even it's just a fun wall as you said, it's quite an applausible presentation. And in case you're curious, Nao Goto is the illustrator for 'The Third ~Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo~' novels.
