Not many of you will recognize this. Its actually a parody of Supertramp's album, "Famous Last Words". If there are any fans out there, you might enjoy the Lain adaptation, if not...then I doubt you'd dig such a simple wallpaper.

When I first saw the origina image, I knew I was going to wall it. It took a considerable amount of time even if it seems otherwise. I vectored the hand and the character standing on the rope from some Lain scans found on AP. When doing so, I decided to be more detalied about these vectors than my usual monochrome ones, if you look closer at the coloring and sadowing, you'd see more colors than usual. The chord I did on my own, it took a while to get the prespective of it right. The background is a simple triple color gardient..or was it 4 colors? I don't remember. Anyway, this was the first time I've used a star field in a long time, thank god I had an old of mine laying around. The final touches included the light and the texture from DA. When the whole thing was done, it lacked life. Even though the original is rather empty, I thought that maybe using slightly more vivid colors might help, and so I pulled the gaussian blurr+overlay trick.

Don't blame or request that I fix the positioning of the title or wording. I've decided to stay true to the original art and I will.

    Very cool!
I really like the colors and the idea is really neat as well. Love the vectoring too =)

I THOUGHT YOU DIDN'T LIKE LAIN, EHH. *prod*

I like the colours, what can i say. Not a fan of the italicized lettering, but it's accurate and i like Supertramp. slight texturing is nice, and overall a nice wall. +favs :O

There's something very abstract and also very frightening about this wall. Then again, I guess you could say the same for the Supertramp album (never liked them, they were my mom's favourite when I was little ~_~ ).

Anyway, aside from my love for the grainy textured feel to the colour, this is simpleism at it's best. A nice, clean & charming vector with a gentle & graceful treatment in it's colouring. Never too overwhelming, but with a mixture warm & dark colours it adds smething extra dynamic to the already-strange setting. Love it!

Nice concept. And it fits with Lain. In really does have the "Wired" feel about it. And though it's true that this have more colours than usual, you managed to pull it out just fine, keeping just the right atmosphere.

    Wow. Colour me amazed.

--Scarlet (Yes, the same old Scarlet... though slightly out of touch, lately *sigh* Suwy.)

I always love it when an artist is inspired to work with something such as a CD cover, like you have here. The resemblence between the CD art and your wallpaper is amazingly close, and while originality isn't something this wallpaper stands out for, it's the fact that you made it happen with that Lain scan. The vector is really nicely done, and it's awesome that you stayed true to the original concept and didn't change the text around.

    Cool work.

Wow, this looks really cool. I LOVE the hand about to snip the wire, first of all, and that you could actually incorporate an anime scan into a picture like this is awesome. I wish I was that inspired right now. ^_^'
    Favorite'd.

Awesome use of the inspiration on this wall, like how the lain image truly captures the essence. Great job man!

A stunning concept, brilliantly executed! And you made clever and creative use of the famous 'Lain about to cut open pluche dog with scissors' image.

One thing, though -- and I'm gonna be brutally honest here -- I think the title is all wrong. I think you took the Supertramp analogy too far, really. The image itself is a fantastic metaphor for all sorts of things: severing the barrier between this world and the next, or simply cutting ties with this world altogether; or as an expression of no longer needing a body (committing suicide?), to exist in the Wired only. Etc. You name it. But "Famous last words," I dunno, that title abruptly, and painfully, turns the image into a joke. It's like a vacuum cleaner that sucks all seriousness out of what really is, and should have remained, a profound and meaningful piece of art work.

I'm sorry to be so forthright here; but only so, please, realize, because I think the image itself deserves so much more! There are many things you could have called it. "The Fabric of Reality" or something. Or "Balancing the Wired." Or whatever; everything but "Famous last words!"
