A few episodes into Fate/Stay Night I was certain that I had to make a wall of Saber, and here it is!
I've seen a few "no outline" vector jobs recently and thought they looked awesome so I wanted to try it myself. I downloaded this scan and started working on it. I thought it looked quite easy at first, but it turned out to be quite tricky since I decided to go for a detailed look and not the groovy low detail kind. The vector took about 2-3 weeks to finish since I worked on it very much off and on, but I like the result.
The background gave me a few sleepless nights. It took me about a week after I finished the vector before I started with making a bg to it. My first thought was to go for an orange/brown sunset thingy, like the ones from the series itself. But I then figured that the shadows are totally wrong for a sunset. I then went for a "silhouette city at night" bg, but it was just aweful. And then this popped into my mind. As you can see the clouds have shadows on the blue sky, which I believe is one of the special things that makes it a bit more original. It kinda looks like a wall with pieces of paper stickied on to it, and at the same time it looks like a blue sky with clouds.
About 90% is made in Adobe Illustrator CS2 and the rest in Photoshop CS.
Hope you like it!
