It`s been some time since I`ve last made a wallpaper... Well, this one`s
inspired by few things. First was my trip to Italy, three years ago, including
Venice. Needless to say, I`ve fell for this city the same moment I arrived there
Second source of inspiration was the music of Martyn Bennett, a talented and
innovative Scottish musician who has passed away in January 2005. The title of
my wall comes from one of the songs entitled ''Why'' of his last album ''Grit''
(I really recommend it to all of you, wonderful stuff), in which a man remembers
the old times and says "...now as I look inside those walls, it brings me
back memories of the past...". The track has a unique mood, with the water
stream flowing in the background and the skirl of bagpipes quietly coming from
the distance. And the last thing that gave me inspiration was of course Aria the
Animation series. I saw only first three episodes but was delighted by the
atmosphere and kinda surprised that someone from Japan got interested in Venice.
Even though it`s 300 years ahead, it`s still Venice, hehe ^_^
Now for the technical stuff ;P
As always in my newer works, I`ve used Photoshop CS2. It`s my first wall, where
I`ve used the idea of photographs laying on a surface. Here for the surface I
decided that it will be the beach with the water gently washing ashore. To
design the sand background I`ve used Digital Anarchy Backdrop Designer. The
water at the bottom of the pic is taken from a different photo. Then, I took few
Aria scans, resized them a bit, burned the edges with Alien Skin Xenofex 2 Burnt
Edges tool and added various effects from I.C. Net Software Photo Aging Kit.
Well, those are memories so the photos must look old, even though they aren`t
black and white ;P Next, I`ve made the text on the wallpaper look as if it was
written on the sand which is already slightly blurred by the water. And the last
thing was the colour enhancement using KPT Equalizer because the whole thing
looked too dull :P That`s it! Phew, that`s some pretty long description I did
there
Enjoy, comment and fav if you like my work.

That is very nice, however the font you chose wasn't the best, and putting the writing on an angle didn't work so well. The colours and the overall balance of the image is great.
I'd absolutely love to see a version of this with no text, or at least improved text.
