Another submission for Free--Waller's A.R.T. Contest!
Once again it has taken me forever to post a piece of art. This time, however, I
did a doujinshi instead of just a wall (though it is sized as a wallpaper). 
Now
before I go into the technical details I'm going to explain contest
elements...
-- Abstract: it's not totally abstract, but rather faded and blended in the background to have a haunting feel.
--Elements: Snow/Ice
--Fantasy: It's Reiha from Vampire Princess Miyu. She's a Snow Demon.
--Monotone: Aside from the splash of color in her kimono the rest of the image is done in shades of turquiose and grey.
--Mysterious: Like I said, I wanted to give it a mysterious, haunting feel so I made much of the background faded and tinted with snow.
--Upside-Down:Sadly, nothing is upside
done, unless you counted the rocks on the ground

Now if you care about the technical details...
I've wanted to wall Reiha for a wall, but I found very little in the way of
artwork for her, and most of it isn't that good in my opinion.
So instead of looking to the anime I found a page out of Volume 3 of the manga
and made the lineart for this doujinshi in photoshop while I looked at a manga
page. I colored it normally, but decided to add origami paper that I scanned
over her outfit to give it a patterned look. (The flower in her hand is a Snowdrop, which I added in).
The background trees were a combination of stock photos and brushes that were
extracted an blended to give a depth to the forest. The bushes were brushed in
ovals that had to be rotated an duplicated till I thought I was going to lose my
mind 
Well, I hope it turned out okay to everyone, cause I like it

woooooooooo first comment by yours truly ^_- ok ok hmm veryyyyyy neat and misteriouse<----- so spelt wrong lol enyway one thing i think would make it lots better is if you hadfrozen water near her like at the edge of the wall to symbolize more to the meaning of the wall.but all in all its a great pick my freind ^^
oh that sure is pretty! the whole background is great! And yes it does seem haunting and I like it like that. Well such a lovely doujinshi! I think you did an awesome job!

It's nice, but the colours contrast too much. The kimono should be a bit more blue like the background. At present she just looks like she was stuck there. Nice job on the doujinshi and good concept

the winter feeling is really really good esp during this hot summer time.
well actually when i see the wall, just realize something weird, the snow that she stand on isnot really blended well it looks like she stands on the air and somehow not the land
but then the drawing is really nice, beautiful ^^

I like the bg its soooo "cold" and really looks haunted like you say
the doujinshi is very cute maybe its too colored for me but she looks good

this wall is somehow magical :O and personally , I love the contrast..it give a warm aspect to the cold bg...and obviously, great job on the doujinshi, she's pretty and the colors you choose are quite nice
