Dang, this took longer than I expected or really wanted to.
This is probably about 10+ hours of vectorising (this is my first real vector) a screen capture I got of this particular moment in the series (which I always think so far is one of the highlights of the show). In the anime itself, the background of this scene is some sort of red/pink undulating randomness (it'll make sense if you watch the show, which incidentally you should ^_^).
However, I decided to change the background to this lightning and rain storm combination primarily because it was the theme of this wallpaper competition I was entering it in to in this forum I was in. I had decided to maintain the widescreen format because cutting off the sides pretty much just leaves only Yuki's face which, although is very pretty, doesn't nearly leave enough of the background showing and (1) I like what I did in the back and (2) wouldn't have much suited the theme of the competition I mentioned.
A thing to note about this... the original aspect ratio was for widescreen on a computer (not standard 16:9), hence why I had to letterbox it in order to conform with standards around here (I didn't really want to crop the top and bottom of this picture and I couldn't expand the sides because it would have ruined the background anyway).
Man, I'm going to have to think twice from this point on about taking on another vector project because I was seriously having dreams of vector lines and seeing anime scenes with vector traces in them @_@
