Sorry I've been so blah lately ^_^' I've had lots of school work to do lately and hardly ever get online, so please forgive me if I haven't always responded to people's comments. -_-

If you're curious...

Time: 6 hours (though not in one sitting)
Layers: 46+ (I stopped counting around then...)

I've never played Dynasty Warriors, but I fell absolutely in love with this artwork when I saw it.

First off, some of the image looks smudged because I wanted to keep it in the same feel of the scan, and crisp cleans lines were throwing it off and giving it a bad contrast.

There was a bit of extraction on the scan, but the paneling was a stock image and I had to cut out the white in between the whirlies in the wood (and I also ended up having to hand draw a few). With a mix of marble ps brushes and manual blending I added onto the scene by extending the floor and adding a stock image Pagoda & furniture. The pagoda was copied and layered repeatedly with different filters to give it that ethereal effect in the night sky. Also, the bird didn't originally have tail feathers so I decided to give 'em some ^-^ I gave the wall a black outline with varying thickness to give it a different feel as well.

I hope you enjoy the wall! Check out these groups, and now I'm off to Silent Hill ;)

Wow.... Uve done a great job, raindrop-san XD
    U have improved ALOT!
lets say, the extraction is lovely...^^
I really love the way U did the room.
Surely the pagoda is lovely as it adds up the magical effect to blend in with the scan. Lovely!
Aside that, everything is rightly placed & I cant find any problems wif anything...^^
My opinion though, I would prefer the wall without the black border... >_<
But its still lovely & deserve preise XD

    wow!
the first thing i noticed was the softness of this wallpaper which what i think makes this wallie look wonderful. and i especially like the colors its dark but very rich making the whole wall look really attractive. everything looks wonderful though for me i think that the image of the building doesnt match the look used in everything else. but thats not so much a problem, the whole piece still looks amazing. great job ^^ fave+

  15. KittyCyn Apr 24, 2006

This is awesome! I specially like the indoor Composition...but I see one "perspective problem in the outside" and this is:

The buildings out the window are captured from the floor to the Top (cos you can see their roof, like a 70 degree angle aprox, depending on the height of the buildings) and the indoor is captured Vertically (a 180 degree angle) so, if you use a 180 angle, it is imposible to see the roofs of the buildings outside.

Changing the building to ones with a 180 angle shot will make the whole wallie perfect!

    Catch the idea? XD

Besides that, is a very nice wallie! :) Keep it up! ;)

Quote: First off, some of the image looks smudged because I wanted to keep it in the same feel of the scan, and crisp cleans lines were throwing it off and giving it a bad contrast.

Noting that, I was about to say the same thing myself, but actually sometimes, I realize that the smudge overdoes the character image in a sense and does tend to throw the wallpaper off a bit as a whole. That's just my opinion, of course. I thought the young lady would look a little better up close, but it never really thrilled me as much as I would have liked, to be honest with you here.

On a high note, I really like the change of contrast you created and the high radiance coming off the sparkles surrounding from the background of the temple, and you did use that marble brush quite effectively well, in fact. I can see you've truly put a lot of care on this wallpaper.

Good job. And by the way, the character is Zhen Ji from Dynasty Warriors. She is Cao Pi's wife, and can be characterized by the clear distinction of the flute she plays from time to time.
