Well, the character picture has a high contrast and is also pretty smooth while some of the bg brushes (especially those in the lower left corner) don't have much contrast and also seem very rough to me.
The black tree and the red sky work better.
The "Pita Ten" text should have a less pixelated outline, the smaller text below it should have the same font and text colour as "Pita Ten". -

Colour and concept are perfect. The text needs some work in that the effect doesn't look quite 'posh' enough for the whole thing to feel really professional. Also, the bg should be similar in 'texture' to the character to give a sort of unity to the whole image. The best bg, in my opinion, would look as if it was drawn by the original artist for the character.
