This is a profile image of Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
I did the image in Corel Painter 9. I used Corel's Liquid Ink and watercolor
tools to achieve the various effects.
I really don't think I want to develop this into a full body image, but you
never know.
I realize some might say the image is too simple but there is something inside
me that is telling me to stop before I overwork the image into just another CG
image of Rei.
I was originally going to draw a full-body image of Asuka on the left hand side
and then make it into a wallpaper. When I was done with Rei's profile, I figured
I should get a little feedback to see if I managed to make it look like her
before starting Asuka.
To be clear, this is not a work in progress in the traditional sense. I consider
the profile of Rei finished. However, the option of further development for use
in another work is still a possibility.
Any and all feedback is appreciated, especially comments regarding whether or not it actually looks like Rei.

I like how you're trying something new and of coarse there's nothing wrong with simple-ism either. I didn't know it was rei until I clicked on the thumbnail. I'm not familiar with this series except when I watch it on adult swim sometimes but, at first I thought it was shinji because of the hair and neck.
But, as I started to concentrate more on her face I started to see more characteristics of rei. I think if you did her hair soft purple, and redid her neck because it sort of has a structere of a male, it would start to look more like rei. I'm thinking maybe if you did it a little smaller in width, it should look a liitle bit better. Just giving you my honest opinion of what I think about her. I hope this helps. If you decide to redo her then, I'll certainly be looking forward to the next one.
