PLEASE VIEW FULL VIEW. THE THUMBNAIL LOOKS HORRIBLE.

The true meaning of life is to be found in the world rather than within man or his own psyche, as though it were a closed system....Human experience is essentially self-transcendence rather than self-actualization. Self-actualization is not a possible aim at all, for the simple reason that the more a man would strive for it, the more he would miss it.... In other words, self-actualization cannot be attained if it is made an end in itself, but only as a side effect of self-transcendence.
Victor Frankl "Man's Search for Meaning"

Note: This wallpaper is dedicated to my sister, Sarah who is spending a semester abroad in Senegal. I miss you, hope you are well, and can't wait to see you in a few months. :)

The title "The Human Condition" is meant to reflect both the postive and negatives aspects of the human experience.

Funny i ask if they can add the Leiji Matsumoto category before my hiatus here x3

The image at first look to me like a Van Gogh art, maybe something with texture make a better look of it, dont know, still i like the result, the only thing that i can complain, is the space, you can find smaller stars in Jenn's deviant page, also you can make a layer behind the stars, use render->clouds with black and dark blue as side color to make a more "space" look.

This is crazily amazing. The vector work and all the levels of shading is tremendous: the thumb indeed SUCKS ! I love the whole idea of this~ she looks like she's forever searching. Excellent~~ well executed and so fine~~ I'll never look at a space themed art work in the same way ever again XP

Wow! This is something different. It's got the feeling from the anime itself. + fav it.

hm, I guess that meaning of life is something that is really over talked for simple aspect of life itself: to live... I think that people over react too much when comes to that subject, but we just forgot to think that are we really supposed to do all the things we do? like... birds exist just to fly, fish to swim, man to conquer?

anyway, I guess that is too much talk for only a coment hehe, anyway, this wall is very good, and different, actually a great one for a change!

congrats about the theme and keep 'em coming ok?

oh... and I hope your sister bring something for your! heheh!

This looks so weird on the thumbnail... so I really hope that all people click on full view. I like this wallpaper so much... well I also love Leiji Matsumoto's art... unfortunately I haven't seen Galaxy Express 999... but looking at your wallpaper makes me want to watch Interstella 5555. I love the combination of Daft Punk's music and Leijis art! Well now about your wallpaper... you did so well on the "become one" (don't know how else to express it...) how her hands and arms "disappear" in the planet... and her hair still can be imagined in these curves of the planet! I wish I could write in German here... sometimes I feel very poor about my English! -_- But I hope you can still understand what I mean. And yes the whole idea... I love wallpapers with a meaning! So I just made this my desktop wallpaper... and of course a fav. Looking forward to your next wallpaper! ;)

Ooh, a Leiji Matsumoto wallpaper. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who likes his art, I felt like I was living under a rock for a while. XD

Like Kuroimisa said, the effort you put into the vector is amazing. I really love the composition and how she blends into the moon. It's really unique compared to other space-themed wallpapers.

Great work, keep it up! ;)

Always glad to meet another Leiji Matsumoto fan, and great work on this wallpaper and the artistic manipulation you used to get the desired effect you were looking for.

It helps, as well, that Matsumoto's work lends itself well to philosophic and religious imagery.

    Keep it up.

Very Pretty work DREAM. I really like your style of vectoring, it's so unique (just like Matsumoto's art) and looks amazing, must have been a lot of work on this one.
I like how she emerge's from the planet/sattelite and the contrast works just fine. :)

Your sister's in Senegal? That's far away... :o

Amazing!i love how you blended her in with the world so well! it really cool how you did it and how the earth looks like..one of my favs!

  14. markjo Mar 12, 2006

I like the concept and the colours a lot, though the starry background is a bit too dotted. But the planet with the blended-in character looks great.
P.S. I'm a fan of Leiji Matsumoto and Daft Punk (I love Interstella 5555)!

I'm on a search for anime with meaning to it like Ergo Proxy, and it seems this Galaxy Express 999 might be worth watching.. Thanks for presenting the idea, and for the wall :)
