Ok. As usual, here's the vector version for easy extration and huge size.
Do view it in full size to see the details put into the kimono.
I wanted to try my hand at something more challenging than the usual vectors that I do. So I turned several hard drives upside down looking for a suitable picture and found one.
Fell in love with this pic the moment I saw it. Such a lovely and outstanding red for the kimono.
A plus point was that I could try gradient techniques to bring out the variation in colours.
So, I set about the tedious task of vectorising the image in photoshop. Much heart ache came when I was doing the details of the kimono. Had to vector each lotus and flower one by one ( used lost of layers to do this). Also, half of the time, I did guess work because it was so difficult to make out the print on the inner robe (even after I tweaked around with the saturation and colours).
I had to rewatch episodes of the anime to add details to the necklace (alastor) because the scan was just one solid colour.
Certian lines were emphasized to give depth to the vector, especially in the case of the folds of the kimono.
So the result is a vector employing gradients.

Wow, I can't believe that one slipped by me 5 weeks ago. This is absolutely magnificent work. I especially love the flower in her hair and the patern on the kimono...absolutely magnificent...thats all I can say. One the best vectors I have seen. Great job.

Wow, very nice picture. Taking a while to load, which means it is a very large image... since you had to color it yourself, you must have put a lot of hard work and time into doing this. Good job.
