This was one that I've been working on for a while after wanting to try something different. It's yet another screen capture (and very painful v_v) vector from FLCL episode 1. It can be found here.

This scene particularly stood out to me as I have always admired Rickenbacker's line of awesome-tone basses (as I am a bass player myself). They're pretty much known worldwide as the staple of American music (along with Fender) from the 60's thru the 80's (which is probably why GAINAX decided that they would use it :P).

I moderately based the Haruka vector on the screenshot (you'll notice some differences, most notably, the absence of the strap and lock), and then vectored the background from some stock images that I collaged together. If I forgot to mention before, the vector took a long time. :P

After coloring, I brushed and lightly shaded the edges with the brush and smudge tool to get that messy/vintage look. Lots of work, but the important thing is... I'm still alive! ^_^

originality and clean vectoring come together in this fantastic wallpaper- monochromatic really gives it a 'punch', and the composition is fluid as well as balanced. Hard work pays off!

God I'm so lazy to comment but I figured it was a bit mean to fav and not say anything when you don't even have one comment on MT (happens too oftent o me)
I'm quite glad this got highlighted on AP because we can see you put a lot of effort into it. The vector may be jagged it doesn't stop the colorscheme to stand out as an original aspect, and probably the best of the wall. The CGing is nice and is out of the oridinary IMO though it could use maybe a bit more work to smoothen out the "finger smudges" that the fearfull smudge tool leaves.the text is lovely addition, as well as the bg

    Eh? whats with this?
Not that much favs or comments on this amazing wallpaper?
I love it how you added shadings that wasnt even in the screencap.
Another unique thing about this flcl wallpaper that sticks out like a sore thumb from others, is the color scheme. FLCL is usually protrayed as a funky show.
But this... i dunno. Its just awsome.

without a doubt, this is indeed one of the better wallpapers that demanded attention, simply because of how artistic, how special it is, you can almost feel that bass playing from the picture, it sucks you in and as if by some force, it makes a desktop so artistic and inspiring, everything is clean, the color scheme is maginificient and cool, unlike no other, just the feeling of this alone on my desktop can feel like a flow of water...very smooth and it just goes so well with it all. great job.
