Well, my first mecha wall. I've been told the explosion on the bottom right (yes, it's an explosion ~_~) was not that great, but you know...lazy people don't do things very fast. XD
So...yes, lighting is probably the main thing in this one.

The lines and the lighting give this wall great perspective. The lighting at the front of the two cannons (pardon my lack of Gundam weaponry knowledge), the slowly darkening shade as you move toward the back, and then the complete shadow at the rear and legs give a really nice sense of depth. It makes you feel like you are standing right there, under the cannons.
I also think the background of the storm is very well done for creating mood. The dark clouds, the flash of lightning, and the glowing red from explosions in the background makes for an awesome forbodding atmosphere, as if the Gundam is about to unleash Armagedon.

After having seen this wallpaper over at AP, I've always thought that it was one of the best Gundam SEED wallpapers ever made. I love the dark and stormy feel to it and all of the subtle details you included, from the rain to the three missles streaking by overhead.
Great work on this one. Hope to see more like it!

finally a good wall of this scan. ive seen like 3. awesome stormy background, the explosion could use work, yeah, and i dunno if i wouldve highlighted it, but it definitely deserves a fav.

I like the lighting, you pulled that off well, as well as the rain. Though there are odd lines along the top and bottom of the wallpaper, like your lighting didn't change those certain spots of rain for some odd reason. I think you could also work on the fire coming out from behind the Gundam a bit more, if that is what it is. Overall, impressive, sort of reminds me of Nat's Gundam wall o_o Just not as Nat-ified.
