Artist Comment
The idea for the title 'Stray Cat' comes from the manga with Kubota picking up Tokito the 'stray cat' as pictured in this wall for their first introduction to each other. Also relates to Tokito's deformed right hand looking like a claw - read manga for more story :)
Here I wanted to create a 'noir movie'-like shot where it's kinda smelling dark and angsty - hence the cinematic widescreen borders and a touch of sepia colour for extra drama. It's done in a comic/manga look because I love the original scan which is just the 2 guys done in sketchy style - hence the crazy pen stroke abuse for the alleyway stock photo to match.

I've been partal to Minekura's particular brand of illustration for a very long time. Its taken many years but at last TokyoPOP has finally gotten around to releasing Wild Adapter in English and thankfully the first volume was released to the public not very long ago. The resultant - an extremely aggressive series encircling some very adult concepts. Gorgeously cinematic - such a description is rightly suited to this particular artwork of yours here.
At the time that I add this comment there are only 21 Minekura pieces available in the Wild Adapter gallery. Roughly 19 of them are scans and of them 3 that are actually wall artworks, your piece 'Stray Cat' is the most inspiring of the lot. I can say with great confidence that none other than this piece encompasses the noir styling of this series with quiet as much vigour nor texture.
