Ah, my debut at Minitokyo. I decided to let my first gallery piece be original art, because that's what I think I'm best at (and besides, I'Ve never seriously tried making wallpapers before... ^^; ).
This picture features two of my original characters: Cinnamon (the dark-skinned man) and Vanille (the blonde man - yes,
man ^^;; ). It was inspired by Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh's painting "O Ye, All Ye That Walk In
Willowwood" ( http://bertc.com/subone/macdonald.htm ). I love her work and really
wish it were less elusive. Oh well. ^^;;
I wanted to do something as elegant and as detailed. I'm really bad at adding detail, so even the clasps and the
embroidery-pattern-thing in this picture are a huge improvement for me. ^^;; Well, and the obvious things taken from the
painting are the poses and the style of faces.
I also tried out clothing design the way it's done in CLAMP's Tsubasa - that's what inspired the layered
sleeves. Unfortunately, I still can't think of any passable and non-boring collars, so Mandarin collars - the
perfect solution for any type of clothing - had to do. ^^;;
