Decided to take a break from vectors, and finally use this scan from DREAM. This is one of my favorite pieces by Amano. ^^ I used stocks from sxc.hu to create the textures and brushes...and kept things to a minimal, merely adding some texture to the background...since the artwork is already so awesome.

Edit: The scan is actually from markjo. I got confused because I saw this same artwork on DREAM's page at AP. XD

    Yay first commenter! =D It's really lovely because the woman in the wallie looks so mysterious and pretty at the same time <3 It's really nice you put a simple background so the beauty of the woman stands out more =D

    I am not definitely being 100% objective here, but most of the people here know how I love Yoshitaka Amano's art.
    O.K., first of all, the choice of scan made the wallpaper a challenge. I mean it's not easy to turn a rather static scan into a good wallpaper. Secondly, I like the division of the wallpaper into three parts - reminds me of a crystal, where one reflection is very accurate and clean, while others have faded colours or the image is incomplete, just as the case is here. Also the part with the brightest background is a perfect place for the icons (and I've got lots of them!) - they don't spoil the overall image. Last, but not least, the choice of colours and the scan itself makes this wallpaper worth setting as desktop. I mean, just look deep into her eyes... She'll hypnotize you.

    not bad not bad at all... and hehe yea.. I am a fan of Yoshitaka Amano's artworks too. ^^;;
    like u said, its not too much work... at least base on what I can see anyways.. *still a novice compare to some of u ppl so I could be wrong* lol...
    but its got that modern clean look to it, and I think it makes a nice looking desktop...
    a little suggestion through.. I think it would look really nice if you u make it grungy.. ^^
    anyways.. nice one.. ^^
    gives u a score of *9.3 and Grade A* for a nice looking wall. ^^

    Haha my new wall. I really like this one because of its dissymmetry. I love that, I try to work on it on my recent sketches. What first appears like a "broken" composition is so much more interesting.
    And soft colours with Amano intensity make a great desktop :)
