i had to rush to make this cuz i am running out of time 
firstly credit to thingperson
for the sweet lacus scan ! *huggles
umm i keep the left side empty for the desktop icons and ...umm very simple just
added the sakura tree *although it doesnt look like one..gomen
and if u think the mount at the back look kinda weird 
..let
me explain why
i had to vector the mountain since the real stock image look too realistic
and i made the cloud too *dunno why just feel like making it 
yay ! *jump with ful of happiness* first time making a 1280x1024 resolution as
paultjuh wanted ! 
therefore i am dedicating it to paultjuh ! hope u will get brilliant
ideas to make some wallie 
and not forgetting the
free--wallers !

Nice stuff though there seems to be a white border on the right side. Layer alignment, maybe?
One more thing. The BG and the scan doesn't exactly matched. Maybe you could try touching up the scan further (like blur) to blend it with the BG more.

So beauty, I liked the colorful background and the pink hair!
I really nice looking wallie. The scan's extraction was done really well but it doesn't match the bg. Your bg is more 2D, which gives it a more flat appearance. I think you should either add an effect to Lacus or create more shadows in your bg. But it does match your scan's them quite nicely. Even though Sakuras don't usual bloom in the winter time, it does give a feel that Lacus can bring warmth to anything. I think the snowflakes should vary more in size. This is really nice work~ Good stuff.

That has got to be the best wall I have seen here in terms of detail and expression of a piece. The realism of the shadowing almost seemed to bring the picture to life. Suberbly done! This is a definite fav.
