I believe that some of the best artwork of DeathNote comes from the chapters
themselves. mainly the first page with the chapter art.
i decided to sue one of those as my scan.
I picked a scan from one of the early chapters, in either volume 1 or 2 (i don't
remember...my books are in savannah 
). i
chose this scan because it has that strick black vs white contrast that i love
so much. i vectored the entire scan in illustrator, using the pen tool of
course, and then created a background that i thought would suit the original
scan using the same technique. i decided that a brick wall would work nicely.
but just brick would have been boring, so i went for a "poster on the
wall" look as well.
the poster actually says...
"KIRA is among us. Pray that your soul be saved."
to add some points of intrest, i used the whole "black and white + one
color" trick, deciding on blood red as my accent color.
added some blood splatters in, and followed it up with some text as a finishing
touch.
i'm pretty happy with how it came out.
i know it's not everyones cup of tea, but i'm a vector whore. so sue me xD

nice art and style but the blood..the colour for it is too bright so it doesn't really fit the bg =.=

Woah its been a while since ive seen another black and white wall but hey as long as theres a noir sense then its speaks genius i guess. I love how the spotlight just shines upon this heavenly vector you did on the image. the text aint bad too cos its BOLD ^__^. Bloody well done as always Kalico!

and that is a great wall, Love the spotlight idea, and I wish we could see the poster a bit more :/
Blood splatters on the top left look suspicious, maybe I would have done something to the part where it overlaps the brick, some change of texture, because right now it looks like you just slapped the brush there :P
Anyways this is indeed great artwork, and, what can I say more, I like it <3
