Artist Comment

Ukiyo, meaning "floating world", refers to the impetuous young culture that bloomed in the urban centers of Edo (modern-day Tokyo), Osaka, and Kyoto that were a world unto themselves. The art form rose to great popularity in the metropolitan culture of Edo (Tokyo) during the second half of the 17th century, originating with the single color works of Hishikawa Moronobu in the 1670s. Ukiyo-e were affordable because they could be mass-produced. They were meant for mainly townsmen, who were generally not wealthy enough to afford an original painting. The original subject of ukiyo-e was city life, in particular activities and scenes from the entertainment district.

haha, here I am, back with the texturing/border/patterns/kanji calligraphy thing. Well I like it what can I say, and it's a change of pace for me and my usual painting colorfull stuff :] and Ukiyo-e is one of my favorite form of art. I did try to make it look like a wallscroll that you'd find in an old antique shop. Dunno if it worked ~_~ The vectoring process was long but worth it in the end :]
thanks to the guys who tried to help me when I could'nt find what was wrong with the thing.

la la la
I'm done babbling, enjoy the traditionnal art remixed~

I'd say something about how good you used the textures on this wall, but then again i'd be a hypocrite for saying slapping textures on a vector is good. So therefore I wont go any further on that.

She did do a really nice job with the vector though, so I commend her on that. GJ CANDY!

    YOU FRENCHIE YOU. XD

Love the traditional style melding with the vector. And that you don't use black for outlines. I hate straight black outlines. The brown outlines really help the style of faded painted artwork work well.

omg, so so kool, very stylist wall, I love the pic of Japan, and your wall is so so beautiful, cant stop faving it, yeah >.<

lol, candy wanted more attention so here goes.

the more you look at this wall, the more you notice... like the way the textures change for each fold of the kimono.

I'd actually say more, but im watching Nip Tuck, so this comment will be in and out.

DAMN >_< THAT GIRL'S MOM DIED. FUCK.

Anyways, the colors you used really give off that traditional feeling, the textures make it look like this was a traditional painting on a canvas, except BETTER.

YOU HAVE JUST BEEN TAGGED BY THE XBOX HUGE SIG THREE TIMES, THATS EPIC.!

O_o waw ... i don't know what to say except that it looks so majestuous. I love that atmosphere you created. It looks like some imperial tapestry. I wonder how you did that but well a magician never told his tricks to the audiance so i'll just watch silently with little stars in the eyes ^_^'
Well seriously this is great. It's good to see different things. This is fresh air for minitokyo.

I haven't any negative things to say ... damn ... would like to find a little problem in your wall but i can't :D ... >_< this is frustrating >_<
    *jk jk of course ^_^'*

I'll make sure to browse your gallery ^_^
Continue so ^_^ *bow in front of the walling emperor ^_^'*

lovely reinterpretation of the original, even though it isn't too far from the original. not a fan of the texturing as it is just a patterned effect. cheers.
