First of all, this concept isn't exactly my own original idea.

I must give credit to liegenschonheit for the concept as this is inspired and based upon his wallpaper found here.

This was also used with the scan by minakomel found here.

With the upcoming Hellsing OVA, I was hyped and in the mood to create a Hellsing wallpaper.

The main reason I reproduced my own version of liegenschonheit's wall was because I felt his was a GREAT design, yet was too cluttered and too desaturated. I figured I'd use the scan to reconstruct my own wall based on his concept (Alucard centered with the black border) for my own personal use. I was quite happy, however, with the outcome so I thought I'd share it with those who might also appreciate it. Also, liegenschonheit's wallpaper is not available in 1600x1200, which I felt was quite unfortunate considering minakomel's scan is so wonderful -- It simply deserves a better resolution.

I first extracted the scan from its red background and then I cleaned it up and adjusted the scan's constrast and hue to get a shade of red that I felt was strong enough but not too bright.

For the background, I started with a solid red that was a slightly darker hue than Alucard and created layer upon layer of different brush strokes and airbrush blotches. I actually spent quite a bit of time undo'ing and redo'ing movements in order to place each stroke in the place I felt best complimented the composition! I felt the most important aspect with this was layering just the right hues ranging from black to a bright red highlight to bring out the depth in this image so I spent quite a bit of time messing with these hues splotched on different layers as well as layer opacity in order to create different textures within the splotches.

Finally, I recreated the black border from liegenschonheit's original inspiration wallpaper minus the arrows. I chose to use thsi same design because; 1) I couldn't think of anything better since the black, crooked border truly complimented the mood of the piece and; 2) I felt it was a good homage to my main inspiration. The only thing I disliked about his wall was all the arrows cluttering the image. While these are certainly Hellsing related, I simply felt they didn't compliment the composition.

All brushes are random from my collection or self-made, so if anyone has a brush here that they want credit for, just let me know and I will be more than willing to comply. If liegenschonheit or minakomel feel that I have abused their contributions, please let me know and we can discuss the matter further in private.

This is a very high quality wallpaper, so understand that the thumbnail does not do it justice! Please check out the full scale piece. Enjoy!

I've never seen Hellsing, but the walll looks great! I really like the composition of it - the glowing edges, the red/black theme, and especially the background. It's very striking and dramatic - nice work!

This wallpaper is simply amazing! Nice job, the hard work shows in the detail.

wow what he said ^
