Time Taken: way too long

I was sick of this just lying around on my desktop while I tried to decide what to add to the wallpaper. Damn my chronic lack of brushes! I'm going to have to install Photoshop and convert some brushes into the Gimp.

I sure like the planets and the glow around her though. The stars are a bit overdone though.

Any suggestions, feel free to comment. Hope you like...

I think that you should make the girl brighter. It would look very pretty but right now it looks kind of plain.

i think the background is actually pretty good you hafta really bring out the girl more though u dont need the outer glow around her ^^ try blending her to the background =]

I like the bg. The brush work looks good.
I think the stars look fine.
I agree that it would look better if you brighten the character.

There seems to be a lack of contrast and saturation in the image of the girl. The blue nimbus makes her look even darker than she already is. You should adjust the brightness on the layer with the girl. If you decide to keep the blue haze, go back to the scan of the girl and erase all the dark pixels at the edges of the extraction on her hair, shirt, legs and collar. That will really help you to blend her into the background instead having it look like she is just placed in front of a background. Ideally, you would want them to smoothly blend into each other right?
The background itself is very appealing, physics aside. If I may make some suggestions, you might want to change the third planet in the bottom left so that the lighting effects match up with the two bigger planets. Make it seem like they are being lit by the same source instead of two opposing sources. In addition to that, maybe think about changing the dropshadow on the text to match the same light source. Its the little things that make up a good composition. By the way, is it just me or does the text look like the same font for a PS2?

    Thanks for sharing.
