I love the falmes and water combo. It does show conflict! The fire, waves, and clothing looks amazing. The only things I want to complain about are eyes and the water. The water seems a little pixellated, but I guess it's not you're fault. And the eyes look a bit big. I'm not sure if they're normally like this. If they are ,then they look fine ^^

Um... this doujin is something of a spoiler, so if you've only read the English-translated manga and don't want the next ten volumes spoiled for you, stop reading right now.

Okay, either you've read the manga, or you just don't care. (*^.^*) This doujin is of Tokito, she of the androgynous body type and severe anger management issues. When she first appears in the manga (vol. 15), she pretends to be a boy because she's one of the Taishorou of the Mibu (trans: uber-powerful villain). She can supposedly change fate with her tarot cards, and is pretty lethal with a sword.
Apparently, she and Akira are supposed to have a "thing" later on in the manga, but I'm still sticking out for Akira/Yuya. (>.<)
I had the hardest time coming up with the background to this. I wanted to show Tokito's inner conflict, all the hatred she had and the loss of self she experienced when she lost her duel with Akira.
My Papa was the one who suggested the flames. Thankies, Papa!

She is cute!! Amazing drawing!! I love the softness of it and all the ripples in the gown. It seems to flow adding to the enchantment of the rest of the background. And your background is superb. Matches the scan just right. But I am confused. Did you do the background in photoshop or did you draw it too? Either way--it is beautiful particularly the flames *admires* I love seeing technique and this definitely shows it. If you didn't draw the flames then I gather you did it by layers and smudging and blurring and it just blended so perfectly!!! I really like it!!! This deserves a fav for skill and technique and beauty.

There are just so many great things with this that I can really only name them in passing - the background; the girl; the outfit.
Are her eyes like that in the manga? Fascinating. I love golden eyes (see : Miyu). There is something just naturally mysterious about golden eyes.
Plus, hey, got to give due respect to a girl who can handle a sword ^^

i luv the combination of flames and water in your background...your dad has a lot of brilliant ideas!! but the water looks kinda blurry and pixely. she looks really beautiful...i especially luv her eyes because even though she seems to be a scary chara, her eyes still seem very soft and girlie! i also really liked the outer glow around her and the sparklies near her legs because i get a sense of power from her. wonderful drawing, sylva!!

you know this thing about announcing spoilers... it makes want to read them >.< so yeah, i read it T_T anyways, the pic is really nice, tokito's head is a little flat, but otherwise, the pic is well done, proportions are ok, except maybe for the leg that's a little too tiny... the colouring is neat, bg is cool ^^ good job!

Come on... not again with the spoilers! ^_^ Anyways.. for some reason, if you're going to macth the firery background, the only suitable expression should only be either sad or serious. I don't know why you made Tokito smiling, it makes the whole piece looks kinda... hm... doesn't fit it altogether. But likewise, I really like your CG-ing, and the whole piece looks really beautiful, if only Tokito would just show some sadness or anger.
But anyways... what do you mean by androgynous body type and severe anger management issues? I don't think I can link the meaning altogether. >.<
