My entry for W.A.R. for The Underappreciated, its a bit late because I didnt want to submit it to MT while the round was still running.

When I first started this wall I went through so many ideas, I picked about 5 scans but when it came down to making the wall I hit a dead end. All the ideas I had didnt seem to want to fall into place at all. So back to the scans I went until I found the one I used. Then was the hard part of wtf does infatuation mean so I went to a thesaurus and found out. Once the word was now known to me I thought oh great this is going to cause many walls so as usual I decided to try and stray away from the pack which lead to this one.

Since she was wearing headphones my thoughts instantly went to a music love to which that remained the focus of my wall even thou its not really predominant from the background but it does make the subject stand out more making it more noticeable that she is emersed in the music.

The next big step for me for this wall was it is 100% tutorial free, not even one was looked at while I was making this since I wanted to make it original and not fall back in the comfort zone of tutorials. I even went to the extent of making my own brushes for the piece. There is still a couple of brushes used that were made by other people but 99.8% of them were done by me.

Last of all is the title. Instead of including the infatuation title in it I just went for the plain Music Is My Thing as it makes its point and pushes the subject of the wall. It was about half way through I realised that the wall title is a Hikaru no Go song hehe so I used that to my benefit and added some of the translated lyrics from the song to help emphasise it more.

I like the background you designed. Pretty well blend. But the scan could do a little more fixing up in terms of brightness/contrast.

Other than that, it's pretty good. :)

I really love the background. It really matches the scan. My favorite is the music staff and notes :P You did a great job! :)

wow im in love with the grungy background, i havent seen multi-colors used like that, it looks great. hm and text fits the overall wall and so does the character fav+

i love the typrography; those are really great fonts. the grunge may be a bit overpowering at times, but i find it quite attractive. the four liney things on the top left hand corner are very effective, it might be better if there are more of those more definitve shapes in the background emanating from her. just me crazy thoughts. i personally think there's nothing wrong with the extraction of the scan, but her face does seem a bit too blue; maybe some pink overlay there. anyways, it's a fine piece of work and a great effort! definitely deserves more appreciation! ^_________^

It seems like you've changed the text. I think you've editted quite some parts of the wallpaper. Well, anyways, I like typography too, I've never seen one which works extremely well with the theme.

First, I really like the grungey wall, well, maybe not really a wall but it's just something you don't see everyday. Unlike graffiti on the wall, this is something more special, and it focuses on... dirtying the wall more with effects instead of words. And I really like this one.

The thought of darkening the scan is great; coz the original one wasn't that dark. And this pieace turns out good quite well I must say. But somehow, I don't really think the notes actually fits in; usually the notes symbolise something calm and peaceful, very much like in a symphony. But since you're doing a grungey piece, I don't really think notes work well in here.

But well, overall, it's really a wonderful grungey piece which calms the heart. I like it! :)
