Hmm. Did this in about 6 hours. Only because I did it at random. This is for:

CyanideBlizzard

Now for the specifics.
-At first she had a kung fu jacket that went from closed to open then to what it is now.
-Her left arm was up higher, but I decided to lower it.
-Her skirt is as is. Nothing more
-At first the bandana was on her head, but I moved it to be over her mouth.
-I almost didnt give her eyes.
-I wanted to be more detailed on her strands of hair, but, there was a certain style I was going for.
-Her top under the jacket had many forms. I decided to do the bandages and have a cloth top over it.
-I had no room to do the rest of her feet, and when I tried to finish them, it didnt look right. So I did the same smoke/mist that surrounds her left hand to the bottom. I think it turned out ok.

Over all, I am very happy with how this one turned out. At least her body that is. This one is really special because usually, when I draw characters, I draw the body first, then add clothing. On this one, I did not do that. Example. I drew her jacket then added her hands. Then her skirt then her legs. So this entire thing was free handed. hence "Free Hand Motive". And as said before, I'm really happy about it. And for those who think it needs more shading, I dont think I will because I was going for a simplisitic kind of look.

Note: Its actually alot more shaded then the scanner would allow. the smoke, her jacket wer alot more shaded then they appear.

Over all, enjoy!

This was started while I was watching the Evangelion movie (End of Evangelion). Then finished while watching Fruits Basket. Funny thing about it, its more Naruto based XD

    First Comment! XD
I wonder who she's targeting... it is a she, right? O.o

    a complicated pose.
Def not the easiest to draw.
I like it how u start to think about the dynamism of the char, Although it might lack of depth, it still have enough references of a movement of some sort being performed. Prob from the body language.

My comment would be on the shading, i think shading would be essential to the arms area, as it might provide that extra information about the arms, with shading and adding bit of details (like folds in the shirt) will definitely give some depth to it.

i salute you for the efforts, it's rare to see people challengin themselves with complicated pose .
    Awesome effort keep it up.

Pretty nifty draw but dont see the comparison with Eva and Fruitbasket but at least its a ninja type pose you did on her.. Love the smoke, could use some shading and a bg at the back but great job! :P

Your draw is quite nice. XD XD I love your art. Thanks for sharing ^_^

Nice drawing evan-san! ^^ I really her pose, it's a dificult one, and it's original. You managed very well to give a sense of movement. I like her face and her expression and the clothes are nicely done. I would only point out that her hands seem a bit too little for her and her legs are a bit too thin in my opinion. But don't mind me, you did a great job, keep it up!

    Quote by calisqoa complicated pose.

quite true... but it's also a good thing that you are going for something more complicated as far as perspective and dynamism.
You state that you kept the shading low and in that purpose you have succeded in ginving somehow the depth without overshading, but in my opinion there is something missing to add that "dynamic" vibe I'm getting, maybe it could be done with more shading maybe not, I'm not a drawer really so I would know exactly, but I believe that something in the detailing part could do the trick.
But it's so nice to see a work with this intention, keep it up ;)

Yeah, I kinda figure it's 'Naruto' based. And I like it (maybe because the girl reminds a bit of an OC's from my 'Naruto' fic?).
You did a great job on her dress, but her hands seem a bit small.
The bandana on her face make a good effect and the head is overall really good (I also like that explosive note in her left hand).
    Overall a job well done.
Sorry for no fav, but it seems I've reached my limit... I hate when that happens!

Wow. You never cease to amaze me. The pose almost seems impossible. Almost ! ^^;; Hmm. It looks really clean, and, I dunno cool looking. But seriously, is looks awesome. Teach me your ways!

    hm, cute outfit,
smoke thingy looks good at bottom,
hands too thin and her head seems turned too much,
other than that it looks good

What a cool drawing. You did a good job for starting with the clothes. When I draw the clothing first, the body looks really awkward. Her torso and pelvic area looks proprtional well. Her legs are rather thin in comparison. Her hands are a lil small but the shape and look is done nicely. I especially like her expression of her face and look. It really shows that she means business. Other than that, this is really great stuff~ Good work~

  14. toujin1 Sep 22, 2005

yes you should be very happy with this! i have yet to see lines as clear and well defined as yours...and the simple shading just gives it so much depth. great work dal!

  15. Jormungand Sep 23, 2005

    Whee~! great drawing~!
love the pose, not an easy one to draw ^^
the shadings look nice for me too
since the others have pointed out about the size of her hands and legs, I have nothing else too add
it's a really nice drawing... great work :D

  16. KorganoS Sep 23, 2005

that open jacket and complicated pose is.. well.. rather sexy as I see it ^_^'
there's a bit oddness about her 'straight' legs.. because in real world... it might be hard to keep an upper body pose like that with straightened legs..
but the other stuff, such as the hair, and the hand holding a burning talisman looks cool...
great job as usual, Evan :D

OMG, it's a female version of Strider Hiryu XD !!! It looks pretty good, I really digging the riverside scene and the girls ninja outfit, quite original :) . Character design and everything look pretty good, simple as you said, but it needs nothing done to it,but like KorS pointed out it would be hard for some to keep a stand like that. Her left leg would at last have to be alittle slanted to keep her from faling in the water....still looks cool though :P .I like that fierce look in her eyes, way wicked XD. Wonderful work Lady Evanrued ^uu^.
