Now that I have started doing a bit of walling, I appreciate the need more than ever to full screen.

Well, I have been recently inspired to learn how to wall and I was particularly interested in the grungey look to begin with, so I thought I'd have a bash. There were a few scans I thought would work, but I really liked this one and so I've given it a go.
I want to make another one with Sasuke from the same scan, but this time with a more dark and cold grunge look. However, I felt the Naruto one had to be busy, colourful and messy in order to compliment the character.

The grunge effects were aided by a tutorial [first time using grunge] and a tutorial from Imanimetions.net.

Anyway, here it is. Please comment honestly.

[EDIT] I changed the way Naruto blended with the wall and I think it's much better now.

wow.... aa-chan didn't know it'll be this fast XD
I'm impreseed with the texture use.
    It's becoming more like grunge.

The color is alright i geuss, unexpected color to go with the scan (in my opinion), Limiting ourselfves to few shade of colors perhas can give more def to the texture.
I'm impressed by the way the texture looks, glass is almost unheard of in grunge XD *thumbs up*

perhaps try to hide the use of brushes, i can see repetition of one brush. Nice clean extraction as far as i can see. The font could be better . and mayb play a bit with transparancy with the grunge area in front of the scan. The grunge is a bit too domination for the scan.

But i must admit overall quality is good. nice and crisp.
Much better ^_^ from what i have seen.
    nice effort keep it up.

Hmm... this grunge effect looks really good, Aa-chan! I`ve never tried doing a grungey bg, wonder if it`s hard... ^_^ I`m not a Naruto fan but nevertheless I like the idea for this wall. Congrats, you did a fabulous job! Hope to see more stuff like this from ya in the near future :)

I'm not a fan for grunge but this one really looks good and I really like it :)
because the grunge effects you used are kinda special I haven't seen like them that much!
you really blended the character nicely with the background !!!
the character extraction look perectly done even though for a grunge BG it will be hard for me to tell but I didn't find anything wrong with the extraction!
it deserve a fav "but as soon as my favs are restored" XP
    keep up the good work!!!

I seriously love the colors you chose! Very very nice indeed. Though (this is only my opinion), the scan doesn't seem to fit the wall. Other than that, great job!

really nice ... this looks great...the colors and his imige are awsome....i love the affect and the feel that it has to it...great

Blending the character into the background is the best part of that wallpaper. The "rock" theme is quite suitable for those colours and forms too but all in all it is somehow overloaded with grunge.

Hmm, perhaps I could lose some of the layers? Anyone else agree?

yes, I do :) personally I think this is a good attempt considering you're using this effect for the first time :)

  17. DarkVirus Sep 17, 2005

that is a really cool wall that u made AA...
it is pretty good for ur first Grunge wall for Naruto..
hope to see u make more walls :)

  18. Sugasuga Sep 17, 2005

aha, i <3 that scan of Naruto. now, for teh wall, i like teh whole grunge colors, its very colourful and vibrant. however, teh background still looks a bit empty even though its so bz, like it's missing something, imo. ehehe, anyways, nice job!

  19. rythem Sep 18, 2005

wuu~ *.* not my type demo I think the grungy textures goes very well with the scan..^^ the colours r nicely blended .. not much I can say~ to me it looks a lil busy .. (fits the singing naruto) but its a great first-try work neways~~ :3 <3

  20. SilentMasamune Sep 18, 2005

Hmm, I think I need my sunglasses...too much overlay here. The character is rather overwhelmed by the grunge layers on top, so the character could almost hardly be seen on the thumbnail. The composition of the grunge background, however, looks really good. The colors match as well.

  21. Akaiken Sep 18, 2005

I agree on Mel. The character was overwhelmed with the grunge effects. But considering that this is a new step in you man, it's really good.

    You can do better man!

  22. fooblued Sep 18, 2005

OK, the wall made me almost fall out of my chair laughing. I usually don't like grunge walls or text (I really hate text, most people don't do it right), but.... this wall is great, you have to veiw the full size, becaue the thumbnail looks overwhelmed with texture. And that phrase is so funny with the scan! You have sold me on grunge walls (at least, your grunge walls :P ). Big plus fav (if not now, later!)

the wall is looking very good indeed :)
thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!

    waa~ grunge~ XD yays to aa-chan
hmm..I've never been that much fond of grunge but overall I think it looks nice.
for me , I think the bg is a lil too brown and should be a lil more orangey and yellowish because I think that the colour orange is more naruto-ish ^_^' but thats only my oppinion.
    good job anyway ~
