My entry for the W.A.R. inter-group walling contest as a representative of the NWP.
the charge: a wallpaper about INFATUATION.
my reasoning: initially after hearing the guidelines of this contest i knew i wanted to make a wallpaper to Range Murata artwork. Murata-san is my 2nd favorite Japanese artist & a master at setting the "atmosphere" between a young girl and slightly older boy. but for the contest i wanted to focus on a young girl soley. unlike other interpretations of "infatution" i wanted to focus on a very young innocent girl whom has a serious crush at this very point in her life. it is a temporary state that she is in and in a few years may or may not remember it. but the point is that life is temporary and transitory. our experiences for better or worse mold us into who we are and who we will be.
concept: i searched through all of the Murata and Nana scans to see what grabbed my eye and heart. i came across Kasumi1988's scan. i feel in love with the scan mostly because of her aura and the fact that her eyes are away from the viewer which emotes a sense of mystery. the girl's love interest is unknown- it could be a Jpop artist or the boy next door.

Personal Note: Dips own toe into molten lava. :( This is my first wallaper i have made and although it was
nerve-wracking experience i really enjoyed it and hope to learn more. At the very least i have devoloped a greater
appreciation for both the great wallers of Mt and the beginners as well.

Wow dream, this is great how long did it take you to do this, anyways i love the background and the bluish girl looks pretty neat if u know what i mean, *sigh* i would love to put it in my faves but i added the maxim limit forthis week, anyway keep up the great job. :D

Very cool. I love the whole idea for the wall. The scan is just like what you said and the background is an interesting choice.
The extraction for the scan is a bit messy in the back of the girl's head, but other than that, great job! I love the colors :) -
i love it. there is quite a deal of atmosphere here. the blue really gives a calm feeling. really good. and the background. even if it is a stock image, melds wonderfully. the whole composition is rather well balanced. nice work dream. i'm glad to see you make it through. i was actually thinking about using this scan too, i'll have to finish my idea and dedicate the picture to you now. keep it real real.

Wow nice. The Deep blue effect reminds me of Tanis (Homeworld 2)
i have always loved that deep blue color. It reminds me of nighttime in a field under a full moon. Or a deepfield shot of the Plaedies stars, or darkmatter nebulae against a blue giant (yes a picture does exist).

This is a really interesting entry for the w.a.r and I have no real complaints :) Perhaps if the character's hue is changed more to that lavender of the flowers around her~ but yah, that's not too major~ just something I thought :) Great work!!

The blues and subtle shading of pink is very nice. Interesting how you chose flowers for the background: symbols of love, and the transitory :nerd: ::hmm:: The extraction is a little messy, especially where the character cuts off on the left. & I think it needs a little more...structure. But besides that...bravo on your first wall. XD

You're doing wallpapers now, Dream? I leave for four months and all sorts of crazy shit starts happening.
Okay, so no crazy shit has, in fact, actually happened, but that really can't stop me from saying it, now can it?
Anyway: My chief complaint is that the girl doesn't seem to quite satisfactorily "mesh" with the rest of the wallpaper--she seems to be cut off from the rest of it. Perhaps that was the intention, but it doesn't appear to be.
On the other hand, though, I love the way you coordinated the colors throughout all of the images. The interplay between the whites of the empty space, the whites of the flowers, and the whites on the girl is excellent. The one problem with that is that it's hard for me to see an intent towards the idea of infatuation with the dominant color of the piece; on the other hand, I feel that white, despite the automatic assumptions, was probably an excellent choice of color. I won't allow myself to go into any depth of trying to analyze it for myself, but I could probably spend a good while on it, if I did. ;)
At any rate, the piece is well executed overall, I just feel that something more could have been done to insert the girl further into this world of flowers you've created. But still a great piece.

'Sake said everything I wanted to say... it's a shame about the extraction, especially with the hairline on the left... but also pieces elsewhere too. But really, really lovely job with the flowers... and a really wonderful conception too. Expected as much from your wonderful taste in scans... Hmmm the extraction might need some work a tad bit but overall its fit very well with the bg, not much people pull of a wall on their first but i guess youve almost reached a certain level of experience... nice job, i should try that Exclusion effect sometime... XD

Over all w.a.r. [In Her Life] is an airy well colour collaborated piece which gives the audience a wonderful impressive of space and balance. Such elements work cohesively with one another to create this refreshing and beautiful piece. Well done! :)
