[Description]
My submission for first round for W.A.R. - Wallpaper and Art Revolution. I chose Nana scan for that purpose.

[Background]

Simple and plain. This pretty much describes how my wall looks like. ^^ I'm not sure if anyone noticed, she's pretty much infatuated with herself, and no one else. I've vectored the green building behind, and instead of some logo-like drawings on it, I turned it into a billboard and placed an advertisement on perfume with the brand name "Unfathomable: Topaz", eau de toilette~

The sky has been changed quite a lot of times, and after studying the sky one morning, I've decided to use a morning sky which I was observing. Makes the wall looks more plain than ever, huh? Well, the scan of Nana herself was plain enough, so plain wall is good, ne? After that, by adding the pole and adding tree, birds and leaves brush, I'm quite done with this one.

[Further gibberishes]

The scan of Nana was quite plain, so basically I had to go with a very plain coloured background to go with. Here's some definition of what was inserted, not important anyways, skip if you like.

Morning sky: Means boldness, or a very plain life. Nothing special is going on.
Slanting building and light pole: Nothing much, to match the plain colour of Nana and to try a new angle of where you're looking from below.
Flowing leaves: To emphasize that wind exist in this wall. It's pretty much proven where Nana's scarf was blown to the left, so I'm just trying to emphasize that.
Tree: The coming of autumn, and that explains why Nana is wearing a scarf.

[Wallpaper status]

Extraction: About 2 days, but not 2 whole days
Wallpaper editting: 6 days to be precise, crazy work! Can't believe I actually took 6 days to make a plain wall! *rolls eye*
Inspirating music:

I already really liked this when I first saw it, so there's not much to say cept for the fact that I'm pretty shocked at how much has changed XD

The font... saying unfathomable though I find is a bit distracting cuz of the outline and now that you flipped Nana I'm not sure on the perspective @_@ Birds and the leaves weren't really needed since they don't really match the bold nature of the vectoring, but I really like the advertisement :) (perhaps just moving the telepole to the left and keeping Nana where she was woulda been fine @_@)

But I still love this .... I think it's really original and really great :D

    Kudos, kudos, kudos :nya:

Great wall. Very clean and great scan, too. The only thing I don't like are the two birds :P Other than that, the wall is great! Great job! :)

  3. Terra-chan Sep 14, 2005

Yes, you seem to have ignored my comment about keeping the lampost visible and making Nana more centered. and the birds are a bit much... The sky could have some light texturing. It seems you want it to be plain so maybe make it a cloudy grey sky? it's quite stark at the moment... but the simplism people may love it for that....

    nice wallpaper
the chara's pose is good, it fits to the bg. but the sky gives an empty feeling.
    anyway, good job

  5. Anjhurin Sep 14, 2005

eheh hum is she like falling? cause the perspective seems weird.. or maybe it's the building and lampost that are falling ^_^.
anyway what kind of advert is that? *okay i'll take it, i'm really such an ego centered person, you know, i'm simply the best* lol XP (in fact no one would buy it, though everyone'd like to). but i think the ad concept is pretty good, you could make something for the abstract art section out of it ;).
maybe you could have added some reflection in the building's windows, cause plain black is creepy. the scan is pretty nice, i like her tatoo, and the tree looks good, even though the leafs are quite the usual style.

apart from this rational criticism, this wall is to my liking, which isn't rational i guess, the focus is really on the girl's face, and the bg smoothly fit her :)

Nice! The scan goes great with the background, and I agree that it was good to keep it simple. Some of the strands of hair seem a little strange, but other than that, great work!

  7. sylvacoer Sep 14, 2005

The focus of the wall is Nana of course, and you did a wonderful job of making her the center of attention. I think she would stan out a little more, though, if you had a darker sky.

Nice wallpaper, Ephemeral-Garden. Very NICE indeed. Great work :D

  9. Akaiken Sep 15, 2005

Don't know if the building's gone crazy or it's just the scan... weird... ^_^'

Anyways, a nice scenery but the fallen leaves don't have the right colors. Too dried? But the birds gave me a big smile like this... ^____________^

    Nice I must say...

  10. Acuni Sep 15, 2005

  12. pegassuss Sep 16, 2005

Woow, really nice entry for the contest. I like the scan you chose, her tatoo is pretty, and the perspective is quite original ^^ I like the sky, so grey it seems it's going to rain and the idea of the advertisement looks good! ^^ I think you did a good work! Keep it up!

  13. drell Sep 17, 2005

This wall looks reaaly good, except for the banner on the building, it is a bit poorly designed and ruins the whole piece.

  14. yakushi-meikin Sep 18, 2005

the graphics somehow remind me of quentin tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1... really cool... :)

  15. Ayu-sama Sep 19, 2005

    I envy your skills, E-chan. T_T

Looks great other than the billboard thing. You can try adding more stuff to that.

Oh, wish I can do the stuff you did.

  16. DeathAwaits Sep 21, 2005

I like everything about this piece. sure some skin goes a long way and usually words kill a painting but kudos aon great art.

  17. hongrboi Sep 26, 2005

Hm..it seems a bit plain on the background. The building is nicely rendred too! It has a very detailed shadow but it still seems a bit palin. The advertisement looks cool though.

  18. irian Sep 28, 2005

This is such an original wallpaper, so hard to come by this style.
I like the vectored background, it fits quite nicely with the style of the main character there. I had never heard of nana before.
The sky does look a bit empty, however, I think that you managed to balance that correctly by placing the busy billboard and the leaves closer to the ground. After all, what else would we expect to see when we look up the sky?

  19. iiwa Oct 08, 2005

awesome... actually, i liked it since i saw it the first time :D

heheeh... but i see u removed the clock eh.. >.<

anyway, worthy of a fav for me! *cheers*
