Well, since it isn't realy finnished, we'll just call it project EVA for now.

We (me and my good friend Peter) had just watched Neon Genesis Evangelion for like, the fifth time. This, as usual, inspired us to create a wallpaper.

We discussed different themes, characters and situations. We came up with far better ideas later on but this kinda came out good anyway. It took about a day in actual work, not counting brainstorming.

We used two scans for this one, both from Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's "Der Mond". Shinji and Unit01 was the only objects extracted, everything else we made in Photoshop. We also had to recreate half of Unit01 because a picture of Shinji originaly covers it.
After that we made the background & staircase, followed by lightning and final touches.
We had many ideas after we made the base shapes but this is the only one we're somewhat done with. We we're iching to upload something...

Possible updates in the future, criticism and comments are welcome.

EDIT:
57 views and 42 downloads... still no comments. We worked hard, ya know!?
80 views, 62 donloads... what is this? I'll take it down if you greedy bastards just snatch it.

Hmm the zoom effect seems to work nicely here, and the scan lines and blurriness of it fits. However, the scan behind Shinji looks to be of pretty low quality, maybe you can clean that up a bit. (Go to http://www.imanimetions.net for a tutorial on cleaning scans if you don't know how to do so). Also, I don't really how the background has been overlaid on Shinji, it looks pixelated and strange, maybe get rid of that part. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Well, thanks for the response, however, as described, we made the background ourselves...we didn't use a scan.
The effect on Shinji came from an early idea of making it look like he had some sort of high-tech camo. We simply spherized the background behind him and then made him transparent. Now it just serves as an extra effect...

I've been thinking about remaking the background, not because of the quality but rather because I wanted the dark lines white or lightish gray.. Have to speak to Peter about it.

Still, thanks alot for your thoughts! :)

well probably your best composition of the three. once again i like the weirdness, the zoom lines, or what not. and good job on the background. well. keep it real real.

Thanks, although I wasn't alone on this one. We experimented alot... the first drafts weren't as "wierd" or experimental as this one, we just kinda played around with the layer settings.
This, however, was made with alot of thought and feeling. I feel It may have a wee bit to many colours, otherwise I'm kinda proud... thanks again!
