[My Rant]
Heya,... ^^ I know I said that I won't wall til my exam finished, but I was so frustated with studying, that I ... um, then played around with my Photoshop a bit XD XD XD
fine, fine, I admit I was actually really planning on walling this scan, so just now, I was soooooo bored >_< that I decided I would wall this scan that I like so much :)
yup yup, fell in love with this scan long time ago, so I wall it XD

[Wall's Particular]
Scan: here
Stock photo: http://sxc.hu/
Category: Range Murata
Program: PS CS2
Length: 5 hours ( +extra 1-2 hrs in between the process since am thinking it over and over)

[My Comment]
Hmm, decided to do it simple this time, .. :P At 1st I was going to make a bright-daylight wall using this, with a park as the background, but then I just feel that it doesn't really suit the scan, so after changing my mind again n again for about 1-2 hours, I decided to make it a night scene :)
So this here is just both of them standing on a very high ground at a park somewhere, and then the night sky as the background... I used a stock photo as the city there, and just pretend that there is another lamp in front of them, kay? XP I know the lighting kinda weird, but if the fences and lamp posts are not dark, we cannot really see the contrast...
Oh, the lamp post is also a stock photo, while I made the metal bar myself... :D Oh, and yeah I want the sky to be clear and nice without clouds (again, the contrast thingy)
All in all, I am actually not 100% satisfied at this wall, but yeah, I still submitted it so that I can get input on what I have done wrong >_<

[So...]
As usual, all comments and critics are welcomed...:D Any suggestions are good too..
Tho' as I said earlier I am not 100% happy -_- , it doesn't mean I would update this wall, cos I simply have no time x_x (I really really need to study), my exam is starting again soon (now am having a one-week break..).. But I do appreciate all ur comments, ..
Thank you in advance :) uh, and I promised to look to all ur subs (60 of them!! for now..) after I finished exams...

++edit/updated++
I redo the city line as fukushuusha had pointed out :D , and did some change in the sky as kai had suggested... the sky looks a bit too crowded now IMO -_-but I think it looks better than the plain one.. tell me what you think ;) I tried to fix the railing too and the stars again.. I hope it is better now ^^

    Wonderful atmosphere here!
All blennds good together, colors are perfect, the only thing could be to put more work on the balaustrade (I mean the balcony..)some textures ore something like that...
    but it deserve a FAV!

  2. Jormungand Sep 05, 2005

    Whee~! Beautiful background~!
    Very, very nice blending ^^
my only comments is that some parts of the railings look jagged... or is it my eyes...
and the cityscape look suddenly chopped off... normally there would be a further area with less visible lights, or as mentioned by OA, some mountains in the distance
but anyways, this is still an amazing work ^^

Wah, Very nice!! I really like it! The scan looks great with that stock photo! Awesome job on this!! :D

wallpapernya keren2 semua jadi bingung mo kasi komen apa. ya udah di-fave aja ya?

  5. kyubinaruto Sep 06, 2005

hmm... I still think the railing is a little bit too flat. Maybe you can improve this my erasing the jagged edges on every pole (if you can call that a pole) ^_^' Nvm, my english sux as you know. Besides that, everything else is fine :)

woooo this pic looks soo lively...but, isn't the sky looks so dark? is it cloudy or something?
is Yoshinari ABe the artist of this orange range? the style looks so familiar to me ^^

woah, this wall is making me dizzy.. i feel like i'm upside down or something xd... or that i'm drunk and about to jump towards all those beautiful lights *wheee fireflys!!! wanna catch*
XD <-- omg, heading for my first Chinese class, not starting out things well loll

ok, serious now... cool wall, love the art style of the scan... only thing.. i think the city line is a little too straight... that is, it seems like all the builings have exactly the same height, which is something that doesn't usually happen in a city XD

    good job keep it up!

The composition is awesome... the placement of the elements, and the angle defined nicely. Well-thought idea.. and no doubt I loved the overall look of this wallpaper :)

There are some details worth noticing, though:
    - The stars look adequately varied in size, but they all have the same brightness a.k.a. white opacity. To make them look more realistic, you can also modify their opacity variations, and try to reduce the amount of the 'larger' ones significantly.. because they look a bit too abundant, atm. ^_^'
    - The motion-blurred stars looks unfitting... they seem to 'texturize' the whole sky, which, I believe, was not intended.
    - The edges of the rail/fence looks way too sharp and has small jaggies.. I think it would be better if you applied a small amount of blur (also to match the focus point of the lamp posts), and to make it more realistic, add some metal-ish or granite-ish texture to it.
    - and the city's top edge also has this too sharp look. To overcome that, add some blur or use soft eraser, and add mountain silhouette behind it, and camo it with fog layer or such. :) tricky, but can make the city look more 'real' rather than a pasted stock.

Overall, it's a very nice wall... and with all the improvements I mentioned, it would certainly be one of my favorite Range Murata wallpaper :)

p.s. two thumbs up on the 'Pocari Sweat', if that was made by you XD

    Very fitting concept. Love it.
The lamp looks more realistic than the rails. They could probably use some texture. City and night sky background is impressive.
    Great stuff. :D

First. Awesome work. I've already downloaded this, just haven't commented for now (darn my lazy side!) Lighting and mood? Nigh perfect. The placement of the streetlamp gives us a good light source for the shadows... and is a good example for those that sometimes have problems with such :D Appropriate and good stock? cCheck. Noticable but not overbearing text? Yep got that too.

So what would I do different? I can see two things. The most glaring is the left hand side view mirror on the bike. The white is just too... off for this picture. we should probably ony see some night sky, some glare streaks, and maybe a little distorted city at the bottom. Having it completely white like that would really only work with a bright light off to the left of the picture, to the extent that the shadows would then be off XP So I'd go over that area and redo a bit :D Minor, I know, but I wouldn't be me if I dodn't find something to complain about ;)

second thing may be more of a personal choice really. We've got a brightly lit city, and a starscape at the same time. Now in RL, we'd get a diffuse glow in the sky from the city lights, which would blot out most of the stars. If going for realism, this should really be more present, especially close to the city. Artistically, I don't think it would look all that good though. What I (personally) would like to see would be something more akin to a country-side nightsky. (i.e. far far away from any cities) Its actually really eyeopening for city-bred (like myself) to go to the country and see that there is actually a lot of colour in the skies from nebulas, some of the stars, and the like. Maybe even take it a step further and go more for the look of the stars we get from the Hubble (link), as long as we're being a little unrealistic for the starscape. I say this because even with the stars scattered about, the sky feels a little bare in comparison. I also say this because I'm a self-admitted colour junkie

Anyway, despite all the critisizing I do, I do like this wall. As I said, already downloaded, already slated for desktop use at some point (once I'm bored of the ones I'm using) Keep up the good work :pacman: . . . . . .

It's beautiful! I love it! ^^ The scan is really good and it fits the backgroung really well. The background it's great! The sky is really pretty and the city too! The perspective is great I love it. Maybe the fence could blend a little better. I think you did a good job! Keep it up!

  12. Tokitoh Oct 28, 2005

I love it. I love the artwork you used, I love the sky (though, it looks like there is no atmosphere on earth anymore - way too dark 8), the city, the fence (bevel and emboss is usually a bad idea, but I'll let you get away with it, for now %) and the character position and basically everything. Great thing, the extraction is good, the colors are great and everything blends very nicely. I love it. <3
