This is MY little preliminary entry from the category Kino no Tabi for The UnderAppreciated in order to qualify for the MT W.A.R (Wallpaper and Art Revolution) Cross Group Tournament. The theme was AMALGAMATION - to use as many techniques you can in the one wall.

A solid week of daily working on this one.

--===--Stats--===--
Layers: 32
Time taken: Probably around 29-30 all told.
PSD: 69.8 MB

Image: Kino from Kino No Tabi.

Background: Honestly, at first I was gonna do a gear-based techy wall, considering the original source image. But Kino looks like she`s glancing up at something, as if leaving. So I decided to do a city\townscape. From scratch.

Techniques used:
Vectoring: Every single building in there was either vectored from another image and redone or just plain vectored myself.
Textures: The building, the road, Kino, the sky.
Brushing: The clouds, the sky, the birds
Transform: Shadow, birds
Lighting: The way the light plays in from the right.
Filters: Sky and scan.
Color\Contrast\Brightness adjustment
Extraction: Pentool. Definitely, definitely pentool.
Blending Modes(Overlay, soft light, etc)

Comments:
Honestly, something inside me keeps blurting 'Its not done!' but I have gone over it with a fine-toothed comb, had OTHERS go over it, I cant think of what else to do. I tried for a very soft look, as opposed to my usual works where it all stands out with eachother.

Lastly, as per the requirements, every entrant has to provide a link to another wall in their collection that shows off skills not used here. Problem is..like Kuroimisa (*hug*) I tend to throw damn near every technique in my arsenal at a wall. So I went with this one:

I just like the feel of it I managed to achieve, getting everything to fit together right, the extraction, all of it. One of the few I *do* feel proud on.

So..comments, concerns, tell me it bites? ;) Remember, I am the Master of Ultratech, I can always open a wormhole and slip a nuke in under your desk without you realizing it...*evil chuckle*.

well i think you have a good concept but the wall need a bit more work especially on the lamps.. they look a bit.. crappy T_T o_0

this wall is better than your other one.. - keep it up and spend some more hours on work and it will be 'perfect'

    greetings, asahi

The only thing I'd touch up is the lamposts... They've got a grainy multicolour look that makes them stand out in the wall, but otherwise, wonderful.

Well, the shadow could do some blurring and the lamposts are great! I think that the blurring of her outline is a bit >_< but otherwise the work put into it is great ^^ The only thing is the feet and wheels :)

the lamppost, the flat tyre the bike has XD and the lines on the buildings cause there is some that are still hard edges which makes it look out of place with the blurred and partial erased ones. Oh and the shadow since they arent that dark you need a bit of blur and smudge and opacity change for it. Very nice entry thou :D keep it up Teryon

I saw that you put in the road line and I think it would work better if it was a broken line... and you got the shadow gradient the wrong way around. It should be darker under Kino and lighter as it moves away ')

You placed the lamp post wrongly, it supposed to be in the sidewalk, not on the road itself... maybe you could fix that and the wall could be better ^^ Yup, I think this wall need a pedestrian walk on the side of the road ;) Other than that, maybe you wanna change the mood of the wall ? Cos the dark texturing doesnt really work well with the brightness of the day >_< Just a suggestion ^^v hope this helps :D

really good wall. the composition and colors really work together to complete a rather pleasant picture. i absolutely love the background and how everything really blends with each other. the only thing, the birds aren't neccessary. nast. they take away from the picture. they all just look to smilar, and the perspective is off. they just stand out to much from the rest of the picture. but aside from that. great image.

hahaha yes the shadow is just wrong .. but anyway it is not bothering me coz wallies are not always realistic.. but the bluring of the edge is a bit weird.. yup but it is a nice wall.. good work ^^

I dunno why... I first caught up with your wall when I looked at the title - Leaving the city. It has a similar ring to "running away from home". >.< When I looked at the thumbnail, I thought I saw Kino was riding on her bike, getting away and leaving the city behind; but guess I'm wrong. ^^ Hehhhe.

First of all, the whole texturized buildings are pretty nice. It's like she's visiting a city where all the cities are made of bricks and stone. amazing work. I like that.

The roads and lamp post are nice too. They give a very good leaving city impression. It's like a way outfor her to leave. Not sure why... but I just feel that way.

The scan of Kino and her bike seems to be a little glowed. I'm not sure if you idd that on purpose, but I don't really think it looks nice around it though. It looks distracting to me and kinda sets the scan apart form the background.

Overall, I think Kino is expressed quite well through your work and I really like the feeling of it. ^^ You did a wonderful job on this one.
