Your drawings look good! The way you blurred the background is also nice, but I think in the very back by the balloon things (sorry dont know what they are) It looks a little too blurry. But it still looks good that way, it makes you focus on the person more (like you said)... But anyways, great job mentis! It looks good... :)

I used my character I drew a couple of days ago (found here on MT) to make this wall. I drew just about everything in this wall. Came to about four drawings total, and then combined them and added effects in PS. Then blurred the gate and the bg at different rates to create that "focus" effect on the character. Hope you guys like it :P.

ok i commmented on the char so i only comment the bg this time.
Nice replication of the original scheme of Dun Loireg, you gave it your touch , with that quality hatchings u did to the bg, gives it an authnethic look.
The clouds are nice, watercolour-like, however i think you can incorporate more of dun loireg attributes more to this piece.,
