I was browsing the misc scans gallery in MT to both keep it clean (moving inappropriate images out of the gallery) and to see if there were any good scans of shrines/temples for a wallpaper I'm working on. I found this scan of Neko no Ongaeshi and just loved it. Hiiragi's art is pretty simplistic, and I like the anime designs of the characters more (especially the fact that Baron is a ginger cat, not black) but the simplistic watercolor style of the picture, plus its feelings of easy friendship between these three, really drew me in. I redrew the wall and the rooftop that Baron is leaning against/standing upon, and then used several blended stock photos for the skies. I added texturing to maintain that watercolor on rough paper feel. Since in the end of the Neko no Ongaeshi manga, these three are resting on top of a building (watching over Haru?) and the anime ending theme was "Kaze ni Naru" or "Becoming the Wind" I decided to use that for the title. Very summery.
Look! It's a wallpaper that (provided you only have 1-2 columns of icons) is suitable for a PC OR a Mac!

Additional resolutions are available at DA! Desktop Anime.
EDIT: Fixed some of the problems Nuniko brought to my attention, and a few other things (Toto had an odd blue halo around him) and darkened/roughened up the clouds to feel more watercolorish.

Aspiring Mafia Plug
Who: Anji
What: Another World | Lagoon Engine Einsatz
Why: A different type of scenic wallpaper: a gloomy night scene with an enormously detailed, fantastically strange city. Love it!

verry nice wallpaper, i love the background....greAt job ^^ +fav

Tama I love the scenery! XD Well it kinda brings back my memory of suikoden 4. Which has a character named Chapel if I am not wrong. Very beautiful. Good work indeed.

the scenery is amazing and the wall is quite exquisite. i luv the texturing and the changes from the original scan! :D

I thought no one would have walled this because sadly i couldnt find any scans of this but yeah i love Studio Ghibli designs and all together cats are so evil, if you make them mad they will bring a curse to your family for 9 generations XD but anyway the watercolor feel is beautifully done togetehr. Great job Tama! XD

Neko Neko...i luv cats :)

I love that grainy quality to it... That really adds to the fantastical and nostalgic air of the image. Great work! :D

i quite love the texture. but ha-ha, no surprise in there. ^^
the cat in the suit is smart and adorable, so is the fat cat staring somewhere out there.
the bg looks quite simple but it's really a cool combination of water-colours here and there. very creative and impressive. +fav

I really like Studio Ghibli's work, but find it pretty hard to wall.
I tried a Mononoke Hime wall and it was not as I expected at the end.
You really managed to do something special with a pretty simple scan.
The texture gives the impression that there's a lot of details. It seems that the scan was made to be wall with this style.
I like the clouds and those caracters are sympatic :)
Nice work, keep it up!

Two thumbs up for this one! Nice, peaceful colours, a simple scan, well-matched textures and a great overall feeling.

I have not seen this movie but I love Studio Ghibli~ unfortunately there aren't that many quality Miyazaki walls that I've liked, but this one is so wonderfully simple, but beautiful. ^.^ Going to nominate it for Simple-ism's featured gallery (a new group that I started up for people who like making/using "simple" walls~)

i just saw this movie, and it rocked! this is a really nice wall; it's cute and gothic, yeah!

Very humor, super, I like very much!Hope hereafter can through see much of!!

I really love the watercolour feel you've achieved, you got it perfectly. Good job.
