Inspired by "The world at large," by Modest Mouse. I highly recommend listening to it.

I was not going for realism at all; more artsy-craftsy, fantasy world-ish. And for some reason I was all "Wheee, pencil tool!"

Ice-age heat wave, can't complain
If the world's at large, why should I remain?

Wall: Jump In The Light
Reason: Back before Shinn was the popular mofo he is now, he had a few underappreciated walls, this being one of them. You seldom see abstract wallpapers like this anymore. The colors are bright(another rarity) and the tech BG is impressive. So if you like abstract backgrounds and/or guys on sparkley skates, go give this awesome wall a look.

Just one thing...the thumb makes look very simple but when u see the Full Size is..like...OMG!.

Very artistic, the clouds look so nice, with those little lines, also the floor...and the texture...but maybe, the whole wall will look better with more buildings...or i think so,again, great job.

[Btw..Nice plug,i also think in plug an old Shinn wall]

Usually most walls ive seen from Kino no tabi are either grungey or sceneric but this one strikes out as a unique style cos the pencil tool gives a way some sort of a distorted feeling of movement but could use more maybe but the whole fisheye view is stunning. Great job girl one of you more simplest walls i like! XD

  4. ultimaslair Jun 27, 2005

Very nice! I love the extremely wide-angle. The texture looks great as well, its like shooting at a really high ISO. Actually, its just like a photograph with a super wide angle lens! Simple, yet effective. The oceans and clouds are very creative, I love it!

wow:) what an interesting wally:D for me it's a bit strange:) this...this perspective, i dont know the name of the "effect" :) well, anyway it has a nice touch:)

  6. Ceridwen Jun 27, 2005

There is a good idea in the perspective, it did a fun wallpaper. The sky colors are nice :)

  7. drell Jun 27, 2005

I very much like the fisheye effect, turned out nice. Maybe the wall has to much grainyness.
Very nice wall if to avoid some minor details and I think it is up to my standards and deserves a fav.

PS. I LOVE modest mouse, ONE OF MY FAV bands, NEXT TO interpol !!!
Check my userpage, I have a modest mouse track for BG xd.
    peace DUDE *doing hippie stuff*

The perspective reminds me of a certain camera lense that sphereizes anything put in front of it. fisheye lense or something ... gah I can't remember, shame on me too becuase I had to learn about that in art history XD . Cool effect non the less.

Anyway, thumbnails really are evil, it looks way cooler in full view :nya: . I like the skecthiness of the clouds, they give off an unsettling vibe. There is a sense of peace in your wall, but an underlying evil that seems to be looming hidden somewhere. Kino obviously has something she has to face, or so it seems with this wall, creating a great atmosphere.

Graininess bothers me at times, but it works well with your wall. Nothing really appears to be wrong with it other than the fact that its too damn cool for it's own good XD. Good stuff, if I don't say so myself :nya: .

great perspective! and detail too. the film grain looks great and as tantaga said, there is a sense of foreboding in it. \m/\m/

looks old. like a very old picture from a rotting photo album.
i love how you made the background with the buildings sorta looming over and giving way at the same time.
    very cool. +fav

Nice idea with this crooked perspective - reminds me a bit of a certain effect used in film making. Also the texture is well-matched. The sketching of certain objects is again a good idea, though personally I'm not very fond of this effect.

  13. kara Jun 28, 2005

Oh nice. Yeah I agree that you always come up with really interesting concepts and that's why I always enjoy viewing your submissions^^
The perspective's very interesting and is quite nice and the texture you applied is suits the atmosphere well.
But just out of curiosity, why the white lines around the clouds? It's kind of nice but strange at the same time @_@
But neways, great job! I like it^^

The perspective and the overall design is really awesome and the effects suite the whole story that this wall is telling, good job . :)

  17. calisqo Jul 01, 2005

    twistwed perspective, that's interesting.
Nice pic of scan for the concept.
The atmospheric quality in the work pretty much like kino no tabi's

Omg, this wallie is just amazing. I have never seen walls like this before. The style reminds me of a lot of independent art films where shapes change. And the whole wall reminds me of times when I read a book and the images I get in my mind. Amazing, truly amazing.

Love the fisheye effect, and I don't mind the grainy "old film" thing going on. I only wish you hadn't added the squiggly lines in the clouds, etc. I know old film has stuff like that, but I think it distracts from the predominant style of the image.

    this wall is amazing
