Another attempt at something different. I honestly didn't think this would be as difficult as it turned out to be. It was meant to be her lying in shallow water---the details with portions of her body and hair underneath the surface.

It required a lot of cleaning up, which I did halfass, so if you look closely you can see my "cleaning". I extracted some of the hair as well, recoloring and bluring to give the appearance. After that, it was just combining some stock images---sand for the ocean bed, water for surface, ect.

As obstacles get bigger, prevailing winds blow stronger
And the fire continues to grow
Don't let shallow water limit your perception

Reason: It's beautifully done. Ayaki obviously put a lot of effort into this and it at least deserves some more looking at. Go check it out.

i love ur wallie! it's so (omg) beautiful! even though im not a big fan of ecchi, i don't consider this "ecchi"..bcuz it's like being born/reborn in water...keep up the good work!

  3. Dragula Jun 22, 2005

Yeah, unfortunelly dont look quite right, but is still good enough. I like the concept and the work. Pretty original by the way.

  4. Rebel-Soul-Kaze Jun 22, 2005

The idea is amazing, just need more work. Im not too sure about the shadow,i think it need some motion, also i think the same about the hair.

Also some of the feathers seems odd. Is the first time that i see this kind of idea,so,i think that u made a great job on it,is so original,i have to steal some of your ideas soon, you always make very original things

  5. mooling89 Jun 22, 2005

I really like the concept you have going. It's very difficult so I like that you are going after it. It does look a little awkward. I suggest not having the water stop at lines on her hair. Then it will look more natural, just like you did with her body. Water sees no lines.

  6. Ceridwen Jun 22, 2005

Oh !! nice work ! The water texture is pretty good :) it's really well made :) The colors are beautiful ! I really love this wall and add it in my fav :)
Thank you to sign my guestbook and add me in your friendlist :) I add you too :)

This is really gorgeous...I like the water lines, if you look at water the right way it does indeed have lines ^_^ I love it! (I do think there is a little too much blurring on her tummy though where her sides are underwater.)

  8. DernierCri Jun 22, 2005

I have to say that this one replaces Passive - Aggressive as my personal favorite of yours ... very good work, nice with the blurring on the objects closer... totaly gets the right perspective for the viewer...
mafia plug is great idea as well.. i should do that... +fave

What an awesome way to use that picture! Very creative. I like the stylized water you did, as well as the texture it has. The whole background matches the coloring style of the scan really well ^^

  10. kara Jun 23, 2005

Oh wow you did a really nice job on the above and below water thingie, it looks great^^
And the concept of blurring the closer feathers is very nice.
But meh, it's a bit too ecchi for me >_>
You did a really great job though^^

Hey girl im not mad about you being an ass when you posted for my FMA wall, its ok because ive learned now that people can love or hate something even if its on theat persons mind that they will like it no matter what but anyway back to the wall.... I love what you did on this wall cos it almost looks like Shintas past works if you look for that water wall she posted, the feathers and ripples did such a great job in this and she reallly looks like shes on shallow water! Only thing that could make this wall great is that if there some small ripples in her hair then it would look great too...but thats my opinion! =P

    Anyway a great fava! XD

  12. toujin1 Jun 23, 2005

ahh thx for plugging my wall *blush* haha

    Very unique!~ luving the idea....
it really does look like she's under water @_@
    it's a really great job if it's your 1st time!!~ great job!~

not seeing anything wrong in the scan ^^ haha looks good to me.
the feathers are a great touch to the wall, makes the wall looks more interesting ^^
especially like the title: don't let shallow water limit your perception... XP

Your wall makes me want to fiddle with water effects again XD . I must say cool approach you have accomplished with this wall. Really sets off an ereathral and mysterious mood. She looks a tad sad though ... probably because she cold from lying naked in a puddle ^_^' . The rippling caused by the landing of the feathers was a nice touch as well. Sometimes, the little detials are what matters the most, and those little detials shine well in this wall.

The texture of the water is nicely done as well and brings movement, yet stillness to the piece. Lighting effects are also executed well, although I am left wondering if the light is coming in from the side or above? Perhaps both? It boggles me a bit, but still looks pleasant non the less.

Marvelous wall. Mmm ... yes :nya: .

I finally have the chance to comment this. (Faved it yesterday, but I hadn't much time to comment it... stupid exams -_-)

Anyway... I totally agree with DernierCri, this wallpaper beats "Passive/Agressive" (slightly though, I still love that wallpaper), and this one is an other fine piece of digital art. I love it, and as always your concepts show that you're one of the few people here on MT with your own style and that you wall for yourself first. Props for that. I really have no criticism for this, maybe the black feathers are sliiiightly too blurry but that's part of the whole mood of the wall.

    Good job.

A great visual pleasure, though it needs a bit more work - at times it is too blurry or grainy. Nevertheless love the character!

  21. kai81220 Jun 27, 2005

even though im not a big fan of ecchi, this wall of quom looks really good. i think the prespective of the shallow water is done very well, with the shading and apparent depth of the water. it almost seems a bit grungey ^^ with the shadow of quom being sketchy like that and the water surface having that wavy layering. only crit i might make is that some of the feathers appear a bit grainy. they should all be more or less the same texture.
other than that, nice one here ^^ +fav

  22. Yina Jun 27, 2005

the scan fits perfectly to the bg and I really love the atmosphere... You did a great work on the shading.. nya.. >< +fav

Oh, goodness. You made another first for me... generally I hate nude figures in walls but you did such a good job stylistically that I really like this one... the only thing that bothers me a little is the blurriness of some of the feathers... and while having them there does nicely fill up space, some of them look really out of place...

But thanks for making the first nude wall that I actually like as well as using butterflies in a way that I admire ^.^

  24. thejimster Jun 30, 2005

damn it! what's that feather doing there. of all the places it could've been in it chose to be there
    thats why i hate feathers
