Very interesting use of a monochrome color scheme. It really focuses on the character amist the black bg.

    good job!!

Black & white is sexy. I always loved Amano's art. A nice simple wall that has sort of an eerie feeling. Great job on this one.

so i can take the words "first result" to be indicative of more kick ass wallpapers? and you mention "Enjoy and reflect... for real this time..."
that is simply not true; all of your walls have meaning, although i haven't figured out the "My HiME" one yet. ;) oh yeah- once i "fix" my damn computer's USB ports i will post 3 more Amano books scanned at very high quality. :)

Amano wall: it's a real shame that black and white scans can't be submitted. but i do understand and respect the reason. when i first saw the painting "Poor Little Mermaid" i was immediately drawn to it, so i understand what you "see" in it.

DernierCri's wall: woah she seems in even more jeopardy then in the original. the fish [piranha- perhaps] are closing in yet she seems almost unconcerned to the grave threat. the mermaid appears to be going through "changes" as well DC. one interesting thing i keep thinking that she is attached to the roots of a plant or something and the base is her source of power. i love how you added upon and changed the background. the apparent calmess of the mermaid contrasts her outside surroundings which appear to be incredibly dangerous.

Quote: this wallpaper made me think of an exercpt from a book called "Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere" by A. Westbrook and O. Ratti:

"Both the cosmic and the human dimensions of the concept , however, are closely identified, man being an integral part of creation. The true and all-encompassing Centre, according to Eastern Philosophy, is the same for both the general and the particular, for the universe and for man. This is under-scored in many Japanese tales of the wise man who lives in harmony with himself and with nature. Seperation of man from that identity with the universe, alienation of man from man, and finally, a man's feeling of a split within himself are considered to be the result of paying too much attention to the surface differences, to the details of life. This completely ignores the underlying identity of all life, the basic "oneness" of its essence."

DernierCri thank you not only for a great wallpaper but also for making me smile and reflect. :) Like most things in life; "great" artworks are the ones you can relate too. I am in a transitional phase as well....

The simple b&w look goes so well with this style you've used. I absolutely love the formation of the text and the simple splashes. Just all comes together nicely. Impressive work DC!

Actually I think I've written dozen explanations why I love your Yoshitaka Amano wallpapers, so there's no need to explain the favourite. I would have to agree with Dream that some of Amano's black and white art is even better than most colourful ones...

Recently discovered Amano's works... DREAM's scans are so beautiful, and... I think this wall really captured a bit of the essence in Amano's work. My only criticism would be the font, as it looked very "carved" whereas the rest of the lines are very smooth and flowing. But, still, great wall, and I couldn't resist nominating it for Simple-ism's featured gallery ^.^

Great picture! ^_^ I really love the flow of motion in it. Amano is quite the artist, no? Was it originally just a black and white? Or did you make it that way? Either way, the wall is fabulous. Nice manipulation with the words too. ^_~
