i find this a very high quality wallpaper with such precision and endeavor.
however, i find that the scan stood up too much. but then again, that must be the thumbnail version thats why.
but i love the sky. and lovely stuff in it too+fav

Huhuh. What do we have here... a wallpaper about Scryed! It is surely one of my favourite anime and luckily enough I got a scan of Shireece, this wonderful cutey who comes from this anime n_nV
To the wallpaper: the girl is vectored in Illustrator (took me a day and half to do it, yes I am slow u_u), while the lower and right part of the background, the walls of rock, have been drawn with the smudge tool, trying to reproduce the same landscape of the original scan itself. On the other hand the sky differs from the scan's one, in fact I wanted to try not go trendwh0re (putting the classic moon is just boring) and I decided to try using fractals (the light swirl effects in the sky) for the first time to give a surreal atmosphere (edit: by the way, thre fractal "flying" in the upper left corner is meant to be placed like that, it's supposed to be like a sort of angel/mystical creature ascending in the sky. Just to point it out since people have prolly mistaken that in their comments ^_^; ). It was fun playing with them and they surely helped me to give a more original feeling to the wallpaper.
Last but not least, thanks to wuschel who gave me tips for making those fractal effects, this wall is dedicated to her since it's her birthday (so you guys better wish her an happy birthday as well or I am gonna k33l j00 >=D). Happy b-day wuchan!
[edit] The clouds got slightly retouched to give them a more toonish effect, thanks to shyxsakura for the input ^_^

the vector is great, the rock look very realistic! But I do agree with KorganoS on the visible ground part. The fractals look nice but what is it? Personaly it reminds me of when Kazuma and Ryo fight and if you added a red and blue color on the fractals it would feel like Shireece was waiting for the fight to be over. ^_-

how could you do that sky. It's very nice. (by the way, I thought no one can see the cloud clearly like that in night. The cloud should be darker, but who cares if the pic still looks great. ^^)

Woah, very nice. I love all the blue tones, and that sky is amazing. The dancing lights look great. So does she...err, the scan. Yeah...scan looks great. I love the way she's sitting. The text is nice too, it fits the wallpaper well and is small enough not to take anything away from the wall. Excellent.

Very nice work with the background... I like the little er... surge thingies, whatever you'd call them... especially. Nice work with the astral portion as well. You really do make very nice scenic backgrounds. The characters you put on them, I'm typically not fans of, but... XD hahaha. Oh well. It's an excellent piece. Good work!

hey after the whole post concerning to fav or not to fav I've decided to be more insightful in my crits.
You said you wanted critque......
My, my it seems you have a lot of comments allready, but I'll ad my piece to the pot...
1) This is a nice Wallpaper- meaning it will work well on a desktop. It's not too cluttered and all the action is on the right hand side-good. The colours are not jarring- so no optical eyebleed- always a possitive.
2) the character and the background are nicely integrated- meaning the colours all fit and makes it seems like a whole and one colour theme is continued throughout.
3) did you redraw the whole character in vectors? Cool then....
4)I have seen craploads of starry sky walls (that or fluffy cloud goodness) so the fractals is a nice change- though I don't know whether I like them or not. I mean I like the effect it's a nice effect, but I would've liked it if it didn't feel so pasted on (please don't kill meee....) I mean you seem to have 4 different effects fractalwise going there. I would kill the star in the right hand corner and extend the bottom effect so they all sorta join. I really like the middle fractal bit best (nice and soft).
5) mmm there seems to be no number 5 let's move to 6
6)Hello 6! yeah. It's good that you kept the direction of your light source in mind in the pick and no slappy-itty-on photoshop shadows, cool

I kept meaning to comment on this wall, but something or other always sidetracked me... Until now. :)
First off the clouds have been commented on before but it bears repeating: incredibly well done. Second, in terms of overall composition: it is a deceptively "simple, uncomplicated" looking wall, that actually meshes all its components seamlessly. I honestly cannot think of a single "constructive" change to make. Thanks for sharing, happy MTing, and needless to say, +fav.
