Hello everyone! As you can see I have made a new wallie. ^^
It's not very detailed or anything but it has a bit more in it than my others
do. 
I used one of the textures on the pink background and added the stars in with
the brush tool. It took me a while to extract the main image and it's not very
good, there's a lot of jagged edges, but I did the best I could for now. I'm
sure I'll get better as I practice more. Hopefully
this one won't get deleted for being too "Amature"

*UPDATED* November 12th 2005 I re-extracted and changed the background and added
some stroke to the text. It looks better this way I think.

the background look kinda plain, try to add something on the background (such a brush work .etc) and the extraction need to fix, coz i seem a few rough on character! IMHO

Practice some more Kate, you will do just fine...Cutting doesn't come easy but when you take the time to do it well, you will see the results would be worthwhile. It's not an easy task and I see your character had many curves and details that had needed your time. Take that extra step to ensure it it done...I try to do that myself and I know it's not easy
The bg looks a bit bland and like Tatsuya-san had mention, a bit more life would certainly give your wallpaper an extra dimension. Right now, it's a decent effort from you but nothing wrong with mastering the basic. Good work Kate...Nothing wrong with more of them.
Practice makes perfect.
