Erm. My first wallpaper... constructive critisisms appreciated! I know it's simple as heck and all (at the moment I'm better with my hands than software), but I'm all for learning more~

All the Japanese text on it reads : Shinigami Kuchiki Rukia, Kurosaki Ichigo; kono yo wo mamoru mono (translation: Shinigami Kuchiki Rukia, Kurosaki Ichigo, Protectors of this world). They seem to be the most earnest among most shinigamis to actually protect people from Hollows, so this is what I named them~ Kinda like the idea of these two working together, so placed them together~

I haven't the slightest clue on how to vector images, so my method of extracting and coloring the characters might be pretty different I guess... Since I study animation, I did it this way: The characters were traced by hand from photographs (view here) of 2 bleach posters I took at a recent anime fair. I had reduced the foreshorting and printed the photographs out, then traced it out over a lightbox and drew in the missing sections of Ichigo's right arm, left sleeve, the hilt of his blad, and some of Rukia's blade's hilt too. I pretty much colored them the same way animators in Japan color cells on computer (via Retas!Pro's Paintman). Composition was done in Photoshop (of course). That background photograph is from one of my own stock photograph archives. Picture of a tiny shrine in the middle of Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Wow you've done a lot of work on this wall and I've to say that you've done a great job and this is your first wall too.The drawing and coloring is also really good my only disappointment in this wall is the bg coz it's pretty difficult to notice the shrine and instead of the stock photo you could have drawn the shrine... well that's just my opinion, anyway good luck on your future walls.
    Added to favs. :)

Your first wallpaper you say? Pretty good! It's impressive what you did with the err ...missing parts of Ichigo :D Maybe it's just me, but I can't see that picture of a shrine you're talking about. Don't really else have much I can add, except good work!

Great work for your first wall. You have natural skillz. Is it just me or does Rukia's eye/face look a bit weird(a bit stretched out)? I hope to see more walls from you in the future. :D
    see ya around FMA forums.

I think it looks great. The image of Ichigo and Rukia are nice and clean and the backround is quite cool. I wish my first try at a wallpaper was this good...I've been maing walls for a year and I still can't do something like that so don,t get yourself down :D

Okay, first off - a clap on the back for all the work you did to get the picture of the characters. That was lot of work, but it turned out great. Awesome coloring job. :) I agree with Kevlar though, Rukia's face does seem a little odd. The background is really neat, but the characters are lost in it since the whole wall is rather dark. I think brighter/warmer colors would help here. I'm also looking for the shirne and can't see it. For a first time wall I wouldn't have guess that it was. Nice work putting things together and another kudos for all the work you put in for getting the character on the wall. Heh, sometimes you just have to go with what you know. Hope to see more!

Nice wall. Wait, the background was a photo of a real place? Good job with that, then, because it looks like it came out of an anime. This anime, at least. :d

i hope you make some more, especially ones of Rukia...
