Individual round One: theme Infatuation: versus
Tama-Neko
the title:
The Adolescent Love Of Smoking
the story:
We were seventeen. We were the rebels of our time... fond of our music, our
ideas of conquering the world, our desires and loves. Not allowed to smoke in
public we had to hide in the grey, dark streets to do it... We just have found
the short-lived passion of smoking... soon to be a life-time addiction.
the intent:
I hope the wall can send you back in time with me and how I felt when I was a
teenager, full of dreams, always in love, passionate about music, phylosophy and
all forbidden.
the scans:

the technique:
1. vectoring the scans with few changes of my own (no ears for example) - round
brush size 3;
2. coloring with bold colors - I am color blind...
3. adding texture/grain/clumped: contrast@50% intensity@16-66% - just to the
coloring layers
4. building the bg without a true sense of perspective or size scale - trying to
stay away from the scenic feel, going for the feel of a strong but distant
memory. The guitar is huge for example: I wanted to show how impotant for me was
my music back then.
5. adding texture to the whole thing - very suttle one: some sandstone and
grain, but just a little bit.
6. at this point i wasn't satisfied with the colors, they didn't give the feel
of something that's in the past... so i tried monotone version, but I still
wasn't satisfied. Then thanks to saki's feedback I came up with the final
version using saturation addjustment to kill the color boldness.
sidenote: they are supposed to be around and on a bench, the girl in the middle
is laying down on it.. something like that.. as I said it is not supposed to be
looking real.

hm....nice wall here, a full vectored one. nice job with the vectoring, mayB it would be cool if you got different line thickness, but I think you want to keep the wall abit non realistic. those colors gives me that idea. also adding texture to the brick and the road could be an option too. everything is fine, no bullshit not missing things from my opinion. nice job dc and good luck~!
ps. hmm...mayB making a ghetto background instead of a road, the road still looks too public for the forbidden stuff.
as i commented before. i love the colors. they are a little more muted now, but i still love them. the added smoke brings a suble depth the the whole thing. really dig this one. it brings me back alright, but to a different era. fav.
Yeah maybe a dark alleyway would be more like hidden.

Lovely vectors. I really like your conception... a sort of
pop style and background... I love the guitar 
I'm
actually not too sure about the textures... wondering what it'd look like if it
was texture-free. Especially over the girls, it just seems a little strange.
Nonetheless, a really great w.a.r. submission *nya* and I can really feel your
nostalgia for the "good old days"... *pokes*

Lol Dernier i thought you would change the theme but you actually went for it
ANywya the weird tecture posterized look on the wall is sickly beautiful and
nicely done.
i smoke very ocasionally but its not an addiction... dont want to spend too much money on that crap!
