umm..well just got back from vacation a couple days ago and i guess i feel
wallpaper-ish again O___o
so i put together this depressing outlook on the world today, the Apocalypse.
actually alot of people said theyd wall this scan so dont be annoyed to see it
again ^_^"
i know the changes on the scan arent that great,
and maybe some would say im lazy etc. but thinking fully, it was difficult just
to decide on things and techs to actually complement the scan, even if they are
subtle >.>
i started by extracting the sky because the current one was a bit too
watercoloured look. but i eyedropped the same colors and put the sky in a lower
layer with various grunge brushing.
i also decided to make a smoke column rise from the mountain in the bg cause i
thought it looked appropriate for evangilion, which apparently everyone dies in
the end anyway...so why not die in this scene?
the brush i was using for the smoke had pretty rough edges so i had to do a
subtle erase and layer a bunch of smoke layers behind the mountain layer and
infront of it.
also desaturated the original scan.
extracted a stock airplane and multiplied it into a herd of them dropping bombs
and stuff.
also, looking at the top submits in the NGE section, id say that it lacks the proper depth of work that is needed to fully portray the plot of evangilion. right now if i didnt know the story or could read or whatever, id think that its pretty shallow only cause thats all i see as most popular subs from the anime ^__^'

).... too bad it looks so much like the original scan... still, i like the
new darker feel on this one, and love those planes... even if they all look the
same

First off, welcome back Kai ~ hope you had a nice vacation.
Great atmosphere you've created and the changes you've made to the original scan really helps with that. I've never read/seen NGE, but the artwork on the scan looks very nice. The background you created is neat and I love how you incorporated a grunge look to it but still maintain a realistic mood. Only issue I have is that the background looks kinda flat. The sky and the smoke seem to be at the same distance from the characters, as if it's all on the same vertical plane - it's lacking some dimensional depth. Sorry, if that doesn't make any sense, it's kinda hard to describe.
Overall, it's still a great conceptual wallpaper; and to quote SharinganKnight, 'and it says "kai" all over it'
Kai I can't get enough of your wallpapers 0_o. And omg you were just back from vacation and BOOM wallpaper!! AHHH All your wallpapers are so nicely done. ^_^ It makes me want to fav every single one. Words cannot describe how ... beautiful this wallie is ^_^;. Yes and the smoke fits extremely well in the wallie!! I mistakened it for clouds.

It really has been a while since your last wall~ But comparing the original scan and your submission, most of the things are already there~ However, i liked how you transformed the original scan and made it look so nice and different! the bird is a bit too big, and too noticable, atleast if you ask me. otherwise the image is nice, except for the large and loooooong white text in the bottom, irritating, just irritating... could be smaller or a less noticable color. :/

Owch, that car is hot rofl. I love the more modern scans - they just look less .. cheap I guess. @__@;; Shigh. Colour on this one is rather gorgeous. I`ve always wondered `bout how this type of image look on walls. Frownfrown - for a strange reason it looks very chinese lmao! .__.;; pshh, that's craaazy.
Like the background heaps. The grass looks great - more natrual than anything I`ve seen in a while. Sky, birds .. that does it for me. Romantic - neess. Rainy day picnics actually seem more appealing now hah. Mhm, yeah I like it Kai.

I downloaded this a while ago...one of the few Eva walls I like because of the color, style, and composition...and I came back to fav it because every time I look at it...I like it even more
