A wall for a rainy days! XD
My isnpiration for this wall was the wet and melancholic monsoon days.
I spent 4 hours on background and 30 merged layers (not merged: 45-50 layers) and the program used was Photoshop 7.0.
Nothing more to say. Thanks for previous comments!

I can't believe this wallpaper is in the top subs. No offence to the "waller", but this is seriously a low quality wallpaper:

- The scan is not clean, you can see "noise" all over it. Jeez, you know, there are cheap ways to clean a scan you could at least use one of those (duplicating a layer and using median filter), but you didn't even bother to do that. Duh.
- Extraction problems: since redoing the background of the house appearently was "too hard" for you (lol), you extracted the whole thing... ok... but at least do it properly, because you can see white lines arund the borders of the wooden coloumns, you extracted it badly.
- The "plant" on the lower left corner is freaking hell pixelated! Blur the edges, because if you leave it as it is... it's... it's like a straight fist in face. lol.
- The Bubbles... wtf? Bubbles? They make no sense, lol.
- The stormy background: ok, so you got a stock photo and desaturated it a bit. Yet the stock is low quality and you didn't care to tweak it somehow at least to improve it... it's very grainy and low detailed.

I don't know if you really put your effort on this, but one thing that I know for sure is that this wallpaper is not worth to be in top submissions. Gomen, but that's what I think about it.

ur idea is good (well most of ur ideas are good) but ur result isnt. there is still a lot that u have to learn. how u make walls and how u do the background. sadly people are pushing u to the top fav and lying to u, that this wallpaper is "wow" or "amazing". i still cant believe why people decide to kiss ur ass instead of telling you the truth. its sad how mt turned out.

first u always need to clean the scan. its always good to have a cleaned scan cause thats what it takes to reach a high quality wall. if u cant fix it with the normal photoshop filters use the re-cg way or the vector way.
also u always need an idea in advance for the details and the final look. ur wall needs to be logical in the end. specially when u make sceneric walls. see ur wall starts in the button with blue/dark sky and up to the trees u changed ur sky brown. ur clouds looks like they have been inverted. it just dont fit. if u want to use those brown colors just mix it. make a gradient layer and mix brown with blue. its something that sometimes really fits u have to just experiment. and thats another point the experiments. see i know that u wanna make ur wall funky or good looking. but dont take it to strong with that point. dont overuse little details. also ur lightinings are to bright. it doesnt fit with ur sky. the most ilogical point are the bubbles i think u wanted to create waterdrops, am i right? well find a way to make them look like waterdrops. before u stop makin ur walls and upload them just browse google and get as much tutorials as u can find for help. google will always be ur friend and u will wonder that if u really take ur time with walls u will improve a lot.

and remember only uself can give the hardest critic on ur walls. cause most people just will be nice and lie to u.

I second Shinn's last post from teh 1st word to the very last one...do you ppl have eyes? maybe use them, or get contacts or glasses. one of the reasons why really good walls dont get top favs is because of how ignorant the ppl sometimes are. i didnt even dare read the first three pages cause i know it would have been the same crap as on this last page, the only good criticism i read here was from shinn.

period...

verry pretty image...verry

I like rain weather the air feels fresh, beautiful wallpaper ^.^

gotta correct lima, "the only good critics i read here are ShiNN's and wuschel's"

Well it's not like I blindly agree to those both, but i must say they are bloody right. I looked at your wallpaper, and... whoa. Something like that wouldn't even have gotten more than 15 favs... if you didn't have your "friends" (hello watch list how are you). See it all starts with the VERY improper scan >_< I mean it's already basic to clean your scan before using it. If you couldn't see the bad quality, then wipe your screen a bit. Sometimes it helps, they say.

LOL the bubbles. " Interesting fact, how can raindrops look all the same on leaves... and also the same size!!!1oneone zomg! ...sorry I'm being mean, but that's the truth. No effort at all.

The thunders. Too bright, partly very blurred. The color variations, brown and blue don't really fit together but some might like it after all. The tastes and smells shouldn't be discussed.

Back to the leaves, they are very badly extracted, it really looks like you used the magic wand (tolerance 100) and pasted it in the wall. You already know what I think about the "drops".

Lastly, what really jumps to the eye, is... This wall has no logic at all. See who would lean out relaxed out of the balcony, under this apocalyptic weather??? Okay some people really do this but I mean, if there really was such a darn violent thunderweather going on out there, noone would be relaxed like that, watching the little droplets of rain fall. Actually now that I think of it, the clouds in the background look like smoke, caused by some bombing/explosion. Maybe an atom bomb who knows.

I might sound mean in this comment, and I probably was a bit too at times. But you have to admit, this rather small wallpaper (1024x768 looks worse on higher resolution screens) doesn't deserve the blind and pointless praising it beneficiates... from your friends on the watch list. Well, not so pointless comments though. As wuschel pointed out earlier, Google is and will always be your best friend, so don't fear looking for tutorials. Ask other people first what they think about your project, before submitting such a disappointment. Looking at your other walls, you really have done better in the past. Anyways. Enjoy your favs, top waller.

neko deshita.

Sorry Idril, I agree with Shinn, Limality and nekosasu. I'm not a good wallpaper maker yet but I hope that you'd also read this comment.

I really really like your concept. However, the color of the girl and the black sky with lightning of all things just don't match. It could've better if you used something light like a sunny sky raining or a cloudy sky. Extraction needs improvement. You can already see some excess white stuff on the right part of the girl. Everything extracted needs more work too. The bubbles should be more random. Erase the first or both of some bubble pairs to make it more random. Since I've already told you about the color issues, perhaps you would lower the saturation. Make everything wooden, the sky, and the plants lighter too so it would fit the color of the girl.

Ending this post, I would like to say that hopefully some of your future works will be in the popular submissions category. Bye :)

hmm... I guess I can give credit on concept. though putting lightning in the back is kinda.. a bad idea.. who would wanna put their hand out of the balkony while its really pouring plus there's lightning... ^_^""'
the scan also seems a bit blurry.
all in all, more improvement is needed. ^_^

Idril, this is a beautiful wall! I absolutely adore the rain effects! And right now, where I'm vacationing, we so badly need rain!! What I really love though are the lightening flashes in the background. Did you know, that in order to photograph lightening, you have to take the picture before the lightening even flashes? I learned this while I was trying to photograph a storm! Until later, keep making these beautiful walls!! :D Thanks for letting a fan like me share in the experiance of your art. :)
