Hello!
I guess it's been a while since I submitted anything, I've been really busy, and this wallpaper took way longer to complete than I expected.
So, one day I was sitting at my computer trying to decide what I should do for my next wall, I said something about Paradise Kiss, and my brother was like, "Yeah, you should do a Parakiss wall!" I told him that I'd always thought that Stage 34, would make a good wall, but seemed like a lot of work. But I found myself really wanting to make a Parakiss wall by that time, and everything else seemed to have been done. So I took on the challenge. So, in a way, this wall is for my brother.
The difficulty came, I guess, because it was a manga scan. Some parts were nicely detailed, but all in all trying to figure out colors and such took a lot of work. I vectored pretty much everything, using brushes for textures, and paint brushed Isabella's lace. I think the gradient tool may have been my best friend for this wall. I created patterns for Miwako's coat, Isabella's skirt and belt buckle, George's coat and Arashi's scarf. Some of them were simple, others not so.
I was going for kind of a soft look here, and I hope I achieved that. Figuring out what to do with the background was kind of a pain. Didn't want anything too much, as it would take focus away from the characters, but anything too plain would just look like a vector. Hope I found a happy medium. For the background, I vectored a Rose Damask print I found in a google search. I tried to make the print look a bit velvety, don't know if that happened.
The emblem on the cage base is another Rose Damask print I found, I couldn't really figure out what was going on there in the scan. Also, couldn't figure out Arashi's chain, so I changed that as well, using some links of a chain from a different Parakiss scan.
The title is taken from a line in "Do you want to", the anime's closing song.
Stats for those who like them:
Scan: Here
Layers: All said and done, probably over 500, yeah... lots of them, too many
Time: Eh, from start to finish a few months or so. Breaks, work, papers,
midterms, life and finals all intertwined of course.
Hardest part: Isabella, all of her, she was cut off, that lace, the fur coat,
she was a pain
Funnest part: Arashi... my biggest complaint about the anime, aside from the
last 30 seconds, was they decided to make Arashi really ugly. Why'd they do
that?
There is a lot I can talk about decisions and stuff, but the description is long
enough and who really reads these things? Anyway, I hope you guys like it
!

Lovely vectoring, soft painting, and vibrant colours, you can hardly believe that this was vectored from a black/white manga scan! I especially like the use of stylish patterns, it fits the series well. Full view is a must to see all the amazing details and effort that went into this wallpaper. Awesome work kit-kat!

The thumbnail doesn't do any justice to your wall! It's so much better when viewed enlarged!
And the vector + painting is really awesome! It's hard to believe you actually started it out from a black and white manga scan!

thats a lot of work! i really like the colors you used
this is absolutely high detailed wallpaper
coloring is absolutely goregous, and everything is fantastic!
The amount of work you've put in this wall is unbelievable! It makes it even classier than Ai Yazawa'a original design!
And it also has a mysterious and sinister feeling, especially with that bird cage imprisonating Yukari; like they were all vampires xD I totally love this touch!
This wall looks so awesome! Finally some good Parakiss wall...Thank you for making this!

Zomg, this just blew me away~ I first thought the colors were too saturated when I saw the thumbnail, but the way it contrasts with the cold blue BG is cool, it's really nice~ perfect lines and textures and it all seems so amazingly great~ O_O
The tones you used end up being so dramatic, it's really cool~
But, I thought Miwako-chan's eyes were pink, and not blue~ xDDD
I just thought on this DA submission I saw, it's another vectoring of the same pic... I just thougt you'd like to see the different ways of treating the same image~ Here~
*psss, I like your lining way better~ xDD*
That's it, really good work and congrats~
Perfect... great job!
