This wall is supposed to be an entry for the Minaimal-ism
Project held by
.
I hope it'll be accepted as an entry.
In Germany we have the metaphor 'von der Muse gekuesst werden' (to be kissed by
a muse) which means you got a sudden inspiration or have been inspired by
something. Muses are deities of inspiration in Greek mythology and often
depicted as women.
'Inspiration is something that brings color to a life that would be rather dull
and uneventful without it'; that's the thought behind this wallpaper. Sometimes
inspiration is captivating and obvious and sometimes it's small and unobtrusive,
but it's always there and makes life a little more interestening.
It was really fun to use a scan by RAIN again. RAIN is one of my favorite artists and that alone makes the process more funny and satisfying. It's odd how I always vector anything, even if I could do something without vectoring. What I really like about vectoring is that everything fits together in the end, and I get a clean, harmonic result.
Textures and patterns for this were taken from DA!, Bashcorpo and Hybrid Genesis.
Here's the
1600x1200 version.
Comments and favs are greatly appreciated, hope you enjoy.
Edit:(16.05.2008)
I kind of agreed with Gaara and MapleRose on the highlights, so I fixed that and
some minor errors I noticed along the way. I sure hope it looks better
now.

Wouldn't you like to be kissed by a muse?
Simple but beautiful. The earthen tones with a touch of bright colours on the bird makes this an exotic yet calming wallpaper with interesting symbolism and interpretation. Using clean vectoring and soft painting, Erdbeermilch did a great job on reworking RAIN's artwork!

It has to be accepted, it's simple, neat and full o different interpretations.
The vector is very well composed, my favorite is the bird. Its colors have
nice tones. I like painted vectors, you worked with a beautiful, but hard to
handle scan. Congrats, it's a success!
He sure is skinny
Beautiful, innocent, exotic, alluring, refreshing & free. Stunning work of art. It's criminal to call this a wallpaper
Wow.... I'm rather speechless here. This is some quality vector work. Amazing job! ^^
Wow! Sugoi wallpaper!
I really liked the color, the way you've painted it! I also like the bird the best!
Congratulations!
And good luck in the contest!
You've captured Rain's artwork beautifully! Great job on the colors and vectoring!
Simply spectacular.
I keep tryin' to remind myself that this is a "simple-ism" wallpaper and any suggestion I provide is going to upset the already delightful simplicity and beauty this piece already possesses.
Good luck on the contest!
Spectacular! The colors! the icture and all! is perfect!
=D FAV
I just feel that the highlight on the leaves should be painted as well, right? Other than that, the simplicity works and I like how you've changed the original colour.
WOW

you sure know how to amaze me with your walls
this wall of yours is simply stunning
& I love it
well done
Pretty ^__^ I love your use of colours. And yes, I can understand the concept behind this, because I receive inspiration everywhere
Nice
vectoring and painting, though I agree with gaara that the sharp highlights on
the leaves look a bit out of place...
Very beautiful. Delicate and innocent. Thanks for sharing
How beautiful!
I love the painted look on this wall, especially the way you paint his face. It's very artistic and I think you made up for the simplicity of the background by doing that. My only tiny bit complain would be that the leaves could use more shadows on the right side.
That's indeed very pleasant. I like how you managed to sort of retrace and recolour the artwork yet it still holds its authenticity (that watercolour of the original... lol... somewhat a nightmare to work with
;) I
love how it's all clean and nicely done. Well deserved highlight
absolutely beautiful... my eyes are mesmerized by the bird..
a worthy highlight indeed...
note: later tonight i am going to go through my rain art-books. ^^
